Track Day Tyres - Classic...205/50 Vs 205/55 R16
Hi folks
I'm in need of a replacement set of trackday tyres for my Classic - previously had Maxsports RB5 fitted but after having one completely delaminate on me at Devils Elbow at Mallory park at 85+mph , lesson learnt is buy cheap=likely to crash... violently!!
However the options for trackday tyres in 205/50 R16 are fairly limited, and so I'm looking at Federal RSR's, but question I have is -Is there any 'cons' to fitting 205/55 R16 to a classic.
As long as I change all four (4) cant see what detrimental effect this would have other than slightly bigger rolling radius so speedo may be a few mph out...but more concerned about cornering grip than flat out speed!
A '55 Profile would open up a few more options - Nankang NS2R, DMACK and Federal FZ201?
Any experience/comments welcome'o!!
Cheers

I'm running 205/50/16 RS-Rs on my classic and am incredibly impressed with them. I had Toyo R1-Rs before that - also a great tyre - and I reckon the RS-R is better...you can really lean on them wet and dry, and when they start to let go they do very progressively and predictably. Wear rate is very acceptable.
The RS-R in this size is available for £64 per corner which is an impressive price for the amount of performance delivered.
Running 29psi front 28/psi rear although I've found my classic to be not too sensitive to pressures compared to other vehicles I've owned.
