Default Your Thoughts Please, thinking of selling the Scoob Fancy a Classic

Just keep looking at Classic's and i think i need to have one, Many would say the newage is an all rounder car, but as i only use mine for the meets and the odd day out it would'nt matter if the classic's as some say are not a comfortable.

Crazy as it may be i've only driven a Classic once for about 10 mins, think i just need to get it out of my system and to be honest i just love the individuality of the classic that the newage IMO doesnt have.

I'm rambling, what do you think my car might be worth, i am aware that i have in a way ruined it not leaving it as standard.

October 03 53 plate, its done 47,000 miles, ive owned it for 5yrs, belt and tensioner replaced at 30,000 miles.
its does need a bit of TLC with a wheel refurb and a few body dinks

just a thought anyway.

imho Id keep the newage but i know you have an itch bud......

Classics come in a wide range from minters to: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SUBARU-IMP...item415bbdaec0

There is a huuuge difference between the way the above two would drive.

Just be mindfull, a fast classic will require a good gearbox, brakes and a good engine to start with.....something your newage already has

ive had both and always go back to my classic, but have to say the bug was more user friendly for every day use it was bigger for the family,in my mind go out buy a cheap classic have a play with it then make up your own mind.but dont get rid of your trade mark car it wont be the same,it would be like H getting rid of the beast and me getting rid of the blue wagon.morgan getting rid of the camo we all have our own trade mark

Hmmm... this is good advise...

My 2pence - I've had a few of both, all STi's both UK & JDM. My favorite has to be my wagon which is my daily. It's so good as it does everything I want it to, so well. Car Planet usually have a couple at any one time, nice lookers with low miles.

I also own a Type R, nicely upgraded with suspension and mild engine work (330bhp which IMO is a sweet spot for a classic and road use). This is a better drive than the JDM twin scroll 370bhp I owned a year or so ago - it leaves more for the driver to do, as well as being light weight and more nimble

Either way, classics are more organic on the road, and a closer Scooby experience

Can't you find someone to take you out for proper test drive in a classic? If you're near my way at all you're welcome to to take a look at mine

Gotta agree with mr lightfoot here. Get a cheap classic to runaround and keep the widow beast. I considered getting a newage when my classic started knocking. I test drove one and it did feel more comfortable and solid than my classic but I thought it did lack the rawness of my classic. In the end I had mark@Thwaites rebuild my classic engine and I use the car as my daily driver with 2 small kids and have recently been on holiday in it with no issues. Don't get me wrong, it's inevitable I'll have a newage at some stage.

Verdict; get a cheap classic and keep your newage beast!

Thanks Guys, this has been quite an interesting thread to me and may it continue with everybodys interest and their experiences, to be honest it seem its become a nice way for members to elaborate on their cars, owned and own, which gives us all a good insite into our members.

H yes your right as usual, Mark your also right, Cliff, that was the other plan, but the wifes now not getting her new car so i dont think i'd get away with have another car.

Knowing my car for the past 5yrs it would be a bit crazy to sell it, having only done 48k miles its got a fair bit of life in it yet, maybe i just go full on with it and do a total extreme mod with WRC arches coilovers rollcage etc.

Please keep posting your thought, it is interesting.

just go my route then
type r classic ( bestlooking)
six speed gearbox (with stupidly long ratios so no 80mph @ 4k revs)
twin scroll conversion ( jdm best noise and great under toe instant boost )

only thing im missing from a newage is the avcs (sat in my garage waiting)

i did the same and sold my blob and got a prefacelift classic wagon. I will never go back to newage, the classic is just so much more fun (even though it only goes to 100mph lol)
i found that putting foot down in newage power was smooth but in the classic you get thrown back into the seat when the 16g spins up.
no ac
no abs
windy windows
squeak and rattles as standard
best way of getting into work....priceless!
im over all the snobbery of having a new car etc, and couldn't care less what the new owner does to the blob.

only downside is the inevitable replacing of parts as they go, but you still get some sort of satisfaction from that.

You wont want to be going anywhere near the now defunct car planet, bunch of arsewipes who rip people off, do a search and you will find plenty about them.

I have a classic wagon, and wouldnt go near a newage, mine is used daily and has coilovers, yes its not as comfortable as it could be, but thats thentrade off for having a good well set up performance car that is as raw as a classic

mark why not buy a 3 door shell then convert all ya newage stuff to it then you would have best of both 6 speed sti lump brakes ect.. and would reclaim some cash selling off the unwanted classic bits and newage shell
