My 22B STi... To break or sell whole?
Morning guys,
Well the time has come to say goodbye to my 22B!
I have lived/breathed/run along side the Impreza scene for the last 10 years of my life and loved every minute of it. However, we have a baby on the way and with a house half built, I need to raise funds that the mortgage company now refuse to give us.
The dilema (as the long term members on here know) is that my 22B is a different breed fom the rest. I bought it 6 years ago as a well used rolling chassis and it has been pieced back together. It was always my intention to do a full nut and bolt rebuild on it one day once the house was built.
So with a spec list longer than my arm, I feel it may be a difficult one to sell (certainly won't bring back the £35-40K I have spent over the years piecing it back together and modifing it)!
So, do I break or try and sell her as an odd ball? It does need a bit of TLC/paint to get her mint, but the spec is above and beyond anything the 22B is in standard form.
Anyway, thought I'd have a chat about it on here 1st...
Cheers guys,
Richy

Vote here to sell whole - I'm sure someone will take up the gauntlet - would be a shame to break her - I know you've spent loads but we rarely get back our personal mod money do we ...???
Sorry also to hear you are flying the nest - but needs must sometimes......
Take care

I am in a similar position with my car, building a flat for my parents and renting them a flat and trying to have fun with the scooby just doesnt go well together so car taking a back seat. A suggestion I would make is to get yourself a similar sti which would be massively cheaper and transfer whatever you can over then sell whats left , that should help a little financially.

What I would say Richy is to do whatever is best for you in terms of convenience and speed.
You could probably recoup more in breaking the car, but you might end up in it for the long haul rather than the speed of selling the car as a whole.
I think there are plenty of members on here who have broken cars and then are left with all the 'dross' which nobody wants which you then have to dispose of.
I know it may be sacrilige but breaking it may be the best option in the current financial climate, if I had the money I'd be seriously interested myself.

Sorry to hear that the B has to go but priorities in life change do if needs must.
I'd love to have it ; I just need my numbers to roll in
Money wise with all the mods you have done I suspect breaking it will return you the most if you can bring yourself to do it, have the money dribble in over time and have the bits hanging around.
I wish you luck buddy

It seems extreme to break a 22B but I would only go as far a a complete rolling chassis (I wouldn't start ripping the wings of a perfectly good example), but at the end of the day we need as much money as possible to get this home for my wife and baby without spending money we haven't got.

It's a stunning car Richy!! If I win the lottery I'll have it lol!!!
It's a hard decision as I think the market for any 22b is very limited these days, but I would defo try to sell as a complete car first, then if u can't sell look into breaking but I'd only break it once u know u have buyers for the major parts inc the rolling shell...

Gutting to hear this Rich, but as said if your priorities have changed and you have no other option than to get rid. I'd be tempted to either sell whole, or return the car to nearer standard and sell the uprated parts, but that will probably mean spending a bit of money to make a bit more money if that makes sense..

Hi Richy sorry to hear your having to part with the B mate, you need to do what's best now for the money mate, try a high price for it complete in the region you would be happy with as you never know who is out there then failing that drop it back to a format that you would be happy with then sell the extra's and the car as two.
Like everyone else we all need a lotto win I think.

Hi Richy
Firstly congradulations on the pending new arrival
Gutted you're having to sell the car.. It would have to be whole as it's clean as a whistle and already at a dream spec!

Sorry I missed the comments on here from so long ago. Well the car is going up for sale within the next two weeks on Pistonheads (service and MOT pending etc). I also have a load of genuine 22B spares and nice bits and pieces that will also be going up too (22B wheels, 22B spoiler, brand new P1 shocks and springs and more). If there is any interest, please give me a PM.
