Default Outside temp guage

Guys
My outside temp reading has gone bananas...windscreen frozen, temp outside is 45 degrees....

(02 bug standard apart from exhaust)

Any pointers would be appreciated

Cheers
Taffy

OK lets see if we can narrow things down a bit from "buggered".

Can I recalibrate it or does it need changing. Where do I find the offending part ?

Does it still show that temp when you switch the car on then off again?

Sorry, it was not a lot of help was it

Many years back when I had my first Cossie the ice warning light appeared not to work so I found the sensor and placed it inside a bag of frozen peas!!

It worked but the calibration was obviously all to ****.

OK so I found the sensor and removed the connector block and cleaned the connections and replaced it.
It's -1 outside ans it's still reading 45 degrees I did check what it read when disconnected and it read ----C, replaced it and it went back to 45 degrees.

I suppose it's a case of sourcing a replacement.

any idea's ?

It's located just under the number plate in the air intake on the right. A little black box with a dimple on it. I had it delivered next day for £10.
