Exclamation Brake options

A mate of mine has just put K-Sports front and rear on his 2004 WRX and has offerd me his old brakes. Tempted by the front 4 pots but is it worth having the rears aswell?

Calvin, I would say yes as you have probably only single pot rear calipers.

Not sure what you will need to convert it over though probably worth contacting Ian Godney.

Depends on your budget/how much he wants for them.

Had AP 6 Pots on the front of mine and Subaru single pots rear, brake balance was fine.

2 Pot rears will be better if it doesn't cost you too much.

Calv,

I fitted the two pots to mine. Got the kit from Ian Godney and did not have to change the parking brake.

DIY fitted in about two hours with some tea and biccies

I have 4 pots on the front with godspeed big brake disc's with standard calipers on the rear and have no problems stopping what so ever.

Go for the 335mm discs as they fill the wheels lovely though you will also need to buy the brackets to go with it.

The 2 pot rear brakes do make a difference , it will make the car brake a lot flatter rather than nose diving under heavy braking , the 2 door type R was the car Subaru made to go rallying , and was fitted from the factory with 2 pot calipers , they new what they were doing when fitting these , I have one for rallying and you can feel the backend doing a lot more braking than your spec car.

If you get the rear calipers , discs and pads off him , I can supply you the fitting kit for £49.

With the 335mm front kit I do , they will fit just about under all 17" wheels , the only we have seen they dont fit are the early prodrive speedlines , but then the standard 4 pots don't even fit behind these
I have the 335mm kit on offer at the moment for £550 , the pads in this kit are about 15mm wider than a standard shape pad so you get a lot more pad material on the disc , we also have the brand new bluestuff compound in this pad shape , this kit is a very good powerfull kit that will be on par performance wise of our 330mm kit with AP 4 pots at half the cost

Hope this helps
Cheers Ian
