Default I just renewed my SIDC membership.

Noteworthy because it ran out over 2 years ago.

i agree with you mate as even tho i went back with sidc this year i never renewed mine for two years as i had some trouble with them before with non returned e mails and mixed up membership etc..

after this year i will not be renewing it as i think i could spend my money else where plus the sidc show stands are so big they never get good pitches and think its better to do our own club stands

Probably going to get grief for this comment, but the reason I don't join is because I personally don't think I would take advantage of enough discounts/offers etc.. to justify the joining fee...

Well I've certainly made the most of mine here, lets see.... Silverstone, Brands and locally Combe on many occasions, Pod when the stand was there in the past loads of times... Been to Prodrive 3 times now... WRC trips, Wales Corsica and Catalunya so far and enjoyed the hospitality of the team when over there.. Chatsworth a few times so far as well.

Then discounts on bits ordered insurance etc..... Then when I had some accidental damage on the car on the club stand it was fixed immediatly with no problem at all, that is the importance of club stand insurance and that is why it is so important that it needs to be members only because the insurance covers the members... and I've made some damn good friends to when initially parking within a group of people I don't know many of us now keep in regular contact.

I've never had any problems myself with tickets, membership etc so can't comment on any bad experiances here.

In general I think it's the same as anything, the club is and can be what you wish to make of it, some people just like to support it, some like to go locally to Combe which you can get a private stand and do if that's what you wish to.... when others like to explore furthur options which the club are able to offer it's members.

It's a free world out there

Ditto everything Si said, + I've made some real good friends through the club. My insurance discount more than covers the membership cost alone so it's mad not to join. The Wrc trips with Subaru were out of this world
Sidc membership is a little more than 2 trips to Castle Combe each year.

Thats great Simon, but that's the point I'm making, havent got enough time on my hands for trips, track events etc...

Wouldnt be interested in insurance discounts because I have combined policy for bike and car through a specialist company....so for me personally it would just be show stands, but again I only attend local events, or events that don't clash with my other commitments.

I'm sure there are plenty of people who benefit from the membership.

I agree Kev.

Not only that as I have a love of cars and particularly Scoobys among others. Its just nice to feel part of a group of people who share my values.

I agree too and yes see the point your making exhactly... personally I am lucky enough to be able to explore more of what's on offer and be able to go on the further trips out etc, also I enjoy supporting the club in return for all the helps it's given me.

We agreed on something I need to go and sit down for a minute here

i agree with you guys that can explore the further options of the clubs benifits and use the insurance discounts etc, but for me thats not an option as i am too tied up with other comitments to even attend local meets even though i would love to do the corsica trip and many others .... still not even been to santa pod yet

dan i still feel i get that feeling with scoobynet/sws so no need to join sidc as all the members of the sidc that i know are members of sws anyway

i dont know what happened to my thread on my japfest tickets and i didnt want to drag it all back up again but unfortunatly Kev i did get left behind with SIDC not even helping.

i mean at the least if i was karyn i would have said get to the show and i will get you in and get it sorted, TBH i think they were never sent out.
I was told to go see her at the show to sort it and the first thing that she said was Phil said he was doing a refund so as not to get into anything at the show.
I think she just said that and Phil wasnt doing a refund at all.

maybe the RO should sort there own areas out (a bit like PCAD) as it seamed to run alot smoother.... as for not being able to send recorded or multiple letters etc well we all didnt mind paying the extra for PCAD so why cant it be an option, if i was told on the wednesday i would have to have payed extra for recorded delivery i would have paypaled the money across and they would have been here.
if karyn dont get enough time to do this because of work commitments etc then the club should have sorted someone else to help at busy times or someone with more time take over karyns role..........

Due to the ongoing problems with SIDC Commitee i have removed this comment.

As an r/o i was spose to side with them but now as i have resigned i will no longer support a back stabbing commitee who are happily blaming me for things out of my control and who are then happy to send nasty and vindictive pm's and emails so that it makes me look bad on the forums.

After 5 years of supporting the club i can no longer be involved with such a dictatorship which is being run by the comittee who do not listen to what members ask for.
