hi all,
Im thinking of buying one of the cars above but i cant decide which one?
i like them all to be honest, they all have good and bad things about them and they all seem to be as quick as eachother.
im looking to buy 2004 in any of these 3 cars, prices ranging from £6000-£7500.
going by some reviews ive read, the clio 182 cup seems to be a good car all round?
what qould you go for and why?
any feedback and views much appreciated

I had a Clio 182 when they first came out in 2004. What a great car i wish i could afford to run one now as a second car. However if i was buying one now with a bit of mileage on i would definately go for the honda just for the reliability.
Clio definately handles better though IMHO.

I think the clio would just win it for me, my parents have been looking at getting the RX-8 and the fuel economy is supposedly worse than my scooby so they have decided against that

Another vote for the Clio, they`re a hoot to drive but you do seem like you`re having to nail it all the time, how long it would stand up to that sort of abuse I don`t know. The Maxda or Honda wouldn`t interest me at all.

Got to be one of the japs, test drove a 182 for the misses and found it slow + its french = sh1te, jezza clarkson said the mazda was the best car he'd driven all year (make of that what you will)read the reveiws cos the misses was looking at one of these too(heavy on fuel for a 1.3 + not sure about the durability of a wankel engine), for me tho got to be the type R (best all rounder).

thanks for all your opinions every1, you have narrowed it down to 2 cars now for me, Civic type r vs Clio 182 cup?
still cant decide, i suppose they are similar cars in power, torque and handling?i think the clio does better mpg but the civic maybe more reliable as its jap?

Type R is definately a bit quicker in a straight line but the Clio handles a bit better and has a bit more low down power.
I used to have a Clio 182 and Jon (Bluerigster) on here used to have a civic type r. We put them head to head at the Japshow santa pod a few years ago 'June 05' i think. After 11 runs head to head 11 - 0 to Jon
Nearly had him once but couldn't find third gear quick enough lol

Clio = French = Breakdowns and it's french, will instantly make your breath smell of garlic (sorry Mark).
Mazda RX-8 = **** mpg (wprst than a Scoob!) Wankel engine eats oil, reliability, no torque.
Civic Type R = mega revs to make it go, tiring to drive but being Honda they have never had a VTEC blow up.

The Mazda is a nice car and since it has a 1.3 engine i have taken a look for the wife, since i was after something relatively economical, but as many have said it gets worse MPG than the Scoob so it would be a no to the Mazda for me.
I have watched many Clio's at Combe walk all over bigger more powerful cars just because they handle so well, but they do have reliability issues and their values fall quicker than a drunk on ice.
Driving a type-r was great fun. It handles very well and the engine really is racey, although you do have to ring its neck. The gearstick looks strange, but its perfect from a drivers perspective. They have great reliability and the residuals are pretty good. Also they seem more grown up than the Clio.
So what im saying is, i would go for the Civic.
