Unhappy help!! engine light now off road

hi guys after not long purchasing car and using car for about 400 miles
coming home after working a weekend just as i approached toll booths on severn bridge got the engine light come on and decided to pay up then pull up as car had a loss of power..... then got car on a low loader home a further 30 miles as a precaution. no bangs pops or plumes of smoke / no spillages but something wrong and was hoping someone locally or say a mobile scooby expert can diagnose problem further...
really dissapointed at this stage as previous garage changed cambelt/ etc after apparently the previous owner had snapped the cambelt.. i just dont know what to expect.. but am gonna join a recovery service to trailer it away if neccessary. was planning on taking this to the nurburgring in 2 weeks too so in a way glad this has happend here not there!!!
anyone who can put me in touch with a genuine decent contact who can help would be much appreciated.
i am in aberbargoed off pengam rd in the new taylor wimpey homes site
many thanks hope someone can help m.j

I few more details about the car please, model, age etc.

If it's a classic you can do a ECU test by connecting the two black connectors underneth the stearing colume/stear wheel, This will make the check engine light flash, the number of flashes depicts what has gone wrong.

I'll put my money on a faulty sensor, ie MAF

have a look here under tech info on his scooby page

car is a 2004 53 plate wrx with ppp wagon.
seems to be a screeching noise and seemingly running briefly on 3 cyls..
so needs proper investigation from a good mechanic and scooby expert ideally

Mitch,

Who supplied the car? What mileage do you have? What sort of history? PPP Certificate etc.

We'll help as much as we can mate. ACE Motorsport are in Risca, Andy was a Prodrive mechanic.

get your buns down there mate.
