The only suggestion I would make would be to open a tin of PIVO and worry about it in the morning. I'm sure it won't be too serious.

If you don't mind me saying the first thing I would be tempted to do is to open up your air intakes back up, I'm assuming you are running a top mount ? you have that heavy gauge mesh in the scoop plus in the lower part beneath the front plate... I would like to see all of that removed and let the air flow in as it should be we have just had a few hot days maybe the under bonnet temps have crept up a little while in stationary traffic.

Are you running an induction kit as well ?

Induction kit is the air filter... is it a black plastic box or a cone shaped filter.

This is mine, it's standard...

This is Chris's induction kit...

Do you know when the MAF ( mass air flow ) sencor was changed last ?

If it's acting up like you say maybe hold back off the gas and drive steady until you can ask someone in the know about it ? I'm no expert by any means so please don't take what I say as read... who does your servicing up there ?

Just thought now what fuel are you using in the car and I assume it's been remapped since you have had engine work done ?

If your going to Andy I would suggest maybe giving him a call next week and explain what's going on... he will be best one to advice you

Take all your reciepts with you Andy may wish to scan through them for further info on the car, Andy can supply the MAF if needed.

Keep off the gas though until you have had a good talk it's far better to be safe in the short term.

First job remove that mesh

My old RA tend to do this abit and found out it was the coil packs which were £50 each.

My model was a MY96, the newer models didn't have coil packs. What year is your model.

It's either going to the Maf, Coil packs or it could be the plugs, I had a stutter and misfire on mine years back, it turned out to be a cracked plug but they could be gapped wrong or very dirty.

If the engine is idling OK then suspect the MAF.

To check the MAF, start the engine, allow it to idle then disconnect the MAF. The engine should die like John Wayne at the Alamo. If the engine runs on the ECU is compensating for the u/s MAF.

£80 ish a go. Hope this helps.
