PSI3 Monitors - Which one?
Having had a look at the website is there much difference between the £200 version and the £315 version. Is it all about *****, colours and graphics or am I missing something. Boths specs seem the same
I don't want to know the doffer ferkin on the fan dangle or the terminal velocity of footballers spit but...................
I know there's a group buy, but which one? Cheap or expensive?

They both display the same information but it's down to the display.
LCD is light green and can be affected by direct sun light Ie: you can't read it
VFD can use different filters to give different colours and is less effected by sun light
Are you going to mount it in a pod or as a single din?
If your going for a pod get a VFD if you going for a single din it's up to you which one you want.
I've got the LCD version and had it for 3 years now, great bit of kit but you'll need to buy extra sensors if you want oil temp and oil pressure (£170 +Vat)!!!!!

I've got the LCD version in mine Ian, I can show you when I give you the centre pipe if you like? (p.s. when do you want to meet?).
As Danny says, the only difference is the display and I've only had one occasion where the sun was at the wrong angle to be able to read the display properly. TBH, you're unlikely to 'watch' it that much while driving anyway unless you feel there something amiss with the car, so any display issues are going to be few and far between. The blue does look nice though, pippyrips showed me his last week, however personally I wouldn't shell out the difference just for the VFD screen.
danny's also right about needing the extra sensors for oil pressure and temp - although when I plugged mine in it immediately gave me oil pressure readings and I haven't fitted any extra sensors!!! Result!!!
Either 1) one of the previous two onwers had one (or a gauge) or 2) the bugeye wrx already has oil pressure metrics in the ECU.
I'd like oil temp but not for £170+.
You should be able to pick up an LCD version for around £150.

mine gives out readings for pressure but they are nominal values - the sensors need to be plugged in to the back of the monitor i think - does it give a moving/credible readout?

Hi Rob,
Yes, mine gives proper readouts, normally steady at 6.6bar but has been up to 6.8bar and as low as 5.8bar (cold day).
The oil temp constantly reads 1 degree, which I assume is its default value.
Edit: p.s. I fitted mine into the stereo cage and plugged it into the ODBII port, without any additional cables or sensors. It took me a while to notice the oil pressure readings were changing because it always read 6.6bar. It wasn't until I fannied around (technical term) with the pages that I noticed it was displaying different values on hot/ambient days.

oil temp and pressure are 2 of the most important things the secs can tell you - its just a pain to have to buy the senders to get the readings. apart from the fault and knock readings the rest you could do without
i think kev bought them but never got round to fitting - might be worth seeing if he will include them in his car boot sale

i think the pressure readings your getting are random outputs. Only reason i say this is because mine at idle reads 2.2 ish bar via the gauges and pressure will goes up as high as 10bar when throttle is applied etc
Easy well to tell is to rev the engine - your pressure reading should be moving all the time inline with throttle pressure - give me a shout and i can send pics of where the sensors are for you to check yours
