Default hawkeye wrx hard rear suspension

I have a 55 plate wrx hawkeye with rock hard rear suspension. The dealer near Cambridge says there is nothing wrong but I am not convinced. It bounces over small bumps and this makes the handling very unpredictable. Has anyone experienced this problem with this particular model and year?

Hi mate
I have a 2006 Spec D STI and I find the suspension very crashy over bumps. It just don't seem to absorb the bumps very well

Since posting the question I have been to another subaru garage in Baldock. The guy in charge is Donald and he is very helpful. He says the shock absorbers are seized which explains the hard ride. Trouble is the car is now out of warranty so I am faced with a bill of £900! I am wondering if dealers try to avoid doing repairs under warranty. When you ask a subaru dealer (welch group at Gt. Shelford) to check your car you assume they know what they are talking about. So I have spent the last six months driving around with faulty suspension.

Just discovered mine rear shocks will soon need replacing, starting to creak.
Subaru will not replace them as warrenty ran out in April.
Car only done 24,000 miles.

got 6 weeks of warranty left and had approval to replace both rear shocks today; i thought long and hard about Bilsteins but have opted for OEM for now as they are foc versus £250-300 a corner - running prodrive springs which makes a big difference.

I would get onto IMG, point out the poor diagnosis and try and get them to stump up, however unless its FOC (or near) aftermarket are more reliable (like last more than 18 months) and a lot cheaper.

Hi simon, have spoken to subaru customer service about faulty shocks but they won't do anything bacause warranty has run out. I haven't got anything to prove the shocks were faulty within warranty so they're not interested. I have ordered a pair of Koni adjustables. Looking forward to some decent handling to go with the PPP performance. Neil
