Default Constant attention? (No not a women, a WRX)

Hi guys,

My 03 WRX requires constant tiny adjustments in steering when cruising (say 60-70mph). I’ve got new Tyres on the front (rears are very good too) and prodrive springs. I’m not sure if this is just Subaru characteristics, but was wondering if anyone else has / is experiencing this?

It’s not tram-lining or massively wandering, it just requires tiny steering adjustments to stay between the lines.

I see a lot of people go for rear ARB upgrades; however I’d like to know how the steering response changes to upgrading the fronts?

Thanks,

When was the geometry last checked?

Damn, forgot to mention that, had it done at Elite's 2 days ago. We went for somewhere between standard and fast road. Prodrive settings were eating the inner fronts. Funny thing is that this problem feels the same before and after the setup. Almost like I need a little more resistance in the steering.

What tyres are you using ?

dunx

P.S. A rear ARB "sharpens" up the steering by reducing body roll.

Prodrive settings would normally wear the outside fronts quicker than the inside.

I suspect that your front wishbone, rear bushes are worn. They will probably look perfect, but if they are of the hydraulic kind, the fluid will be gone and allowing to much caster and toe change during driving.

I'm guessing the only way to check is get the car up on ramps? Any easy way of checking or tips please?

Thanks,
Keith

Crow bar, or simply replace with a Whiteline ALK (Anti-lift kit) not cheap, but with a geometry check/adjust the car will be a nicer drive overall.

IMHO

Normally quite difficult to check as getting enough load on them is a pain.

As Dunx says, probably better to replace with uprated and re-positioned bushings like the Whiteline ALK, that will increase static caster, reduce caster loss and reduce anti-geometry...............

Cheers guys, really appreciate the feedback. Defo interested in the ALK. Need a few other bits sorted out first then I'll get this done. I'll let you know the result.

I just paid nearly £100 for full geometry, I'm guessing I'll need it checked again after fitting the ALK? It was a full setup last time so hopefully just a couple of tweaks required.

Sadly yes it will need adjusting, but at least it's only one end !

I've (literally) just fitted my Teins tonight and the car feels awful, with all four corners pointing in different directions !

LOL

How frustrating, hopefully they’ll be great after the setup.
