strange noise from front
while reversing off my drive on full left hand lock i have been getting a strange rotational noise and jolting feeling.
it seems to be coming from the o/s/f wheel it almost feels like i have got a flat tyre?
i have had a look at the suspension and all looks fine no worn bushes etc.
has anyone else experienced this if so what caused it?
or anyone have any ideas as to possible cause?
car is a 2004 wrx with standard suspension
cheers

Mine did this today, I had the car on full lock on flat surface turning the wheel to the left as I reversed out, felt a jolt as if the front wheel had slipped or something.
I am getting it checked tomorrow, will let you know what I find out

With the steering on full lock, a few things could happen:
-you may actually slide over one wheel, because it's turned so far in it doesn't follow the turning circle (I don't know of a better way to describe this...)
-the reason you hear this now may be weather related: colder or wetter.
-your center or rear diff may experience some difficulty with these sharp turns (especially when the oil is cold/thick), trying to compensate the rotational difference between the wheels/axles.

Just need to remember about the diff's and compensate as you say

and does it only occur when reversing?

Sorry mate, didn't mean to be so aggressive, tis the trouble when looking at this on a phone and not a PC.

In regards to the knocking, in my experience it's very unlikely it would be so noisy just reversing it the problem was shocks though.
In that case, agree my best guess would be driveshaft, CV joint, then perhaps wheel bearing or worn hub.
One of my mates recently had a really horrible noise which was thought to be the bearing.
Thing was, because it had been left so long, he ended up having to replace both hub and bearing as the hub had been worn away by the knackered bearing
OP - can you confirm whether the noise get louder or stays the same depending on speed?
