Default strange noise from front

while reversing off my drive on full left hand lock i have been getting a strange rotational noise and jolting feeling.

it seems to be coming from the o/s/f wheel it almost feels like i have got a flat tyre?

i have had a look at the suspension and all looks fine no worn bushes etc.

has anyone else experienced this if so what caused it?

or anyone have any ideas as to possible cause?

car is a 2004 wrx with standard suspension

cheers

Could be a driveshaft CV joint has failed?

Hope this helps.

Mine did this today, I had the car on full lock on flat surface turning the wheel to the left as I reversed out, felt a jolt as if the front wheel had slipped or something.

I am getting it checked tomorrow, will let you know what I find out

With the steering on full lock, a few things could happen:
-you may actually slide over one wheel, because it's turned so far in it doesn't follow the turning circle (I don't know of a better way to describe this...)
-the reason you hear this now may be weather related: colder or wetter.
-your center or rear diff may experience some difficulty with these sharp turns (especially when the oil is cold/thick), trying to compensate the rotational difference between the wheels/axles.

Ah that explains it, I went out earlier to try and repeat the symptoms on some wet/icy surfaces in a local car park, had the slip on both sides on full lock and when the DCCD was engaged.

Just need to remember about the diff's and compensate as you say

does yours only do it after being parked for a while and is then ok once warmed up for a bit?

and does it only occur when reversing?

My local dealer confirmed this when I asked about a slight clicking noise when reversing on full lock from cold - just the diff, nothing to worry about they said.

Somewhat bizarre mate - I'd have expected you to have a few more problems than just a slight noise if your differential has truly given up the ghost!

Very unlikely this would affect the car on full lock I'd have thought?
Extra washers where exactly btw?!

best thing to do is get it up on a ramp and check all the above cos it could be any of them, insted of shelling out for parts and finding out its summat else

Ahhhh.... - my sincere apologies, I misread the post further up as someone else had also started posting their issues as well.

Sorry mate, didn't mean to be so aggressive, tis the trouble when looking at this on a phone and not a PC.
Previous posts respectfully deleted

In regards to the knocking, in my experience it's very unlikely it would be so noisy just reversing it the problem was shocks though.

In that case, agree my best guess would be driveshaft, CV joint, then perhaps wheel bearing or worn hub.
One of my mates recently had a really horrible noise which was thought to be the bearing.
Thing was, because it had been left so long, he ended up having to replace both hub and bearing as the hub had been worn away by the knackered bearing

OP - can you confirm whether the noise get louder or stays the same depending on speed?
