I've got them and they are pretty awesome. I don't know if its the Prodrive settings that help (1degree neg. camber as opposed to dead straight) but on dry tarmac front end grip is unbelieveable. God knows what the Leda must be like?

The ride quality is pretty good too, in normal conditions they feel exactly the same, its only when you get on a really bad road that they feel slightly stiffer

hope this helps

Question

Anyone driven the MY01 with the "old" Eibachs on, back to back with an MY01 with the new Prodrive springs yet? I'm interested to find out what (if any) the differences are between the two????

Matt,

Graham at TSL has, but the Prodrive one had 18" alloys on and the eibach one had 17" alloys... need to have them running the same profile for true comparision.. well, possibly.

Cool

I've just had the Prodrive kit fitted, having had the standard suspension but with 18"OZ wheels before.

First impressions are very good. Much sharper turn-in, no roll, brakes seem sharper due to the lack of front end pitch.

The car looks better (22-25m lower) - especially at the front.

Overall, the ride is slightly edgy at very low speeds (traffic jams in town etc) - feels very similar to the old Scooby at that speed - evens out as you get to 40mph - becomes superb from then on - very smooth but firm.

It's really down to what matters to you in the handling v ride debate. I think this kit is the best compromise for fast road work over long distances.

Regards

I'd agree with Bryan's comments.. But still recommend everyone try the TSL demo car or at least get a passenger ride in it before deciding... which kit suits will depend on what you want from it.

As Alex says, there is a noticeable difference between the rates of the two, and dependant on the useage the car will see and the kind of driver you are will help you to decide which way to go. Obviously I would not like to come on the BBS and shout that Spring A is better than Spring B... etc.. , If you can, try them both and buy the one that suits, Anyone is more than welcome to have an obligation free tazz in ours to give you something to compare against!
Cheers

Also Trouser, can you describe (roughly) and in your opinion ( ) what the differences between the Prodrive and Eibach's are?

Had the Prodrive versions fitted today along with full geometery setup. Car sits 20mm ish lower. Improved turn in, less body roll, less dive under braking, worth every penny. We compared the Eibach versons along side the Prodrive ones. One point is that the Prodrive versions seam to have a thicker dia of spring, this did lead to some concerns on the way they seat on the spring platform. Still all bolted back together now, and no problems so far. Thanks to Curtis and all the boys at Powerstation for an execellent job.

Matt... seriously.. No problem!!... come along!

as you asked here is MY OPINION...once more for the benefit of the tape.... .... MY OPINION

and please remember suspension appraisal is VERY subjective.

The Blue eibachs are a big improvement over the stcok springs as i have have said, the car will sit better and more importantly has less weight transfer under acceleration/braking/cornering. Once aligned, really a cracking package. i would guess that Prodrive have engineered these as a real "dealer friendly" spring as the day to day ride is extremely good and very compliant. As an all round rate for fast road/take the kids to school/ granny out etc you cannot fault it. Which I would guess was the design brief in the first place

IMHO the only thing i felt ( and a couple of customers, who are going over from from blue to grey) was that the blue feels a tiny bit "floaty" in relation to the grey which feels a tiny bit harder ride but a lot more precise and predictable on the limits. It is really evident under harsh braking. I think that is the fairest description between the two.

Blue... name, colour, all round ability, slightly smoother ride
Grey.... price, bit firmer (good or bad dependant on your view) bit more precise and i THINK (by eye, not measured) a gnats lower.

This comparison of "precision" is reasonably accurate as the back to back test was done with two cars with exactly the same GEO settings (+- 0.01mm) same day, same route, same driver.

You cant really go wrong with either.... but i personally prefer the grey, and they're a tad cheaper n all!

and once more....ONLY MY OPINION!!!!!

Hurrah for Eibach! That's what i say

Cheers

P.S. Do you have "both" cars with both springs or just one of them to try...???
