This is my understanding of it.

Higher powered cars.

They often max out the 1000cc injectors and until recently anything higher produced a really horrible idle. By using 8 you can increase injector capacity buy having say 550cc as the primary's (nice idle too) and run for example 1000cc secondary's that come in when you put your foot down and need increased flow to the engine.

I suppose you could use two of them and have a fully independent fuel system per cylinder..?
