Default Front Number Plate?

Hi People,

New to scoobynet, just got my 1st car

And as 1st cars go i think i made a good choice 'wrx sti'

Quick Question,
I wanted to remove the front original numberplate, and replace it with the sticker type strait onto the front bumber, I am fitting a FMIC and didnt want it getting in the way of that nice cold air!

IS IT LEGAL OR HAVE ANY OF YOU GUYS HAD TROUBLE WIV THE POLICE?

Thanks

Welcome to Scoobynet!

Theres been a few similar threads on here and the general opinion seems to be that its OK. I had a stick on number plate on an MR2 and a Golf that together covered 8 years and never had any problems with either police or MOT.

I know some say technically its a bit dodgy but it seems to be one of those things that gets overlooked.

do u just buy the reflective stick on plate and the numbers and alphabets????

thought there need to be details of who manufactured the plate in the bottom

last one I bought was made for me by a company in Birmingham.Had it on the golf for 6 years without needing to change it so I dont know if the company is still trading. The previous one to that I bought the backing and the numbers etc and stuck them on myself but that was 8 years ago when you could buy that sort of thing over the counter without proof of reg etc

Had a vynyl number plate on my car for over 2 years now, without issue.

The backing is reflective and wasn't mentioned when I got a bollocking off the coppers for parking on double yellow lines.

This has been mine for some time now and it is reflective but I've never had any trouble from it.

May not be 100%, but going for motorbike style size could land you in trouble????

Your vynyl plate looks bigger than mine.

If it's a classic WRX, then you're ok with a bike sized plate. Had one for a while, got it from Halfords actually. UK car then your snookered.

Can have a square plate, but it will be quite big. I've both the import plate and bike sized on kicking about, will take a pic.

Bike and import sized plates.

Just to add, might be worth checking on the DVLA website as things may have changed since I had the bike sized plate on.

Mount a small plate behind a std one, then remove std one for "fun".

Not recommended by me at all, honest, it was Dave's idea....
