MY03 Lower Mesh Grille
#1
Hi
Has anyone managed to make a mesh grille for the lower vent on your MY03? If yes any chance you can post some pictures. Just seen the WR1 pics and I think the lower grill makes it look mean. I want one! Some insturctions on how you have made it would be very helpfull
Cheers

These are of MY52
Just cut a card template and sit it in the recess then use that to mark out the shape onto your sheet of grill, then all i have on mine is one fixing point at the top centre around the main pillor it's on the pic below.... my mate made it for me and we used a long grey cable tie to secure it..... just behind the number plate
Just make sure when you fit the grill to mask all the inner area of the bumper with masking tape.... don't want to scratch the paintwork.
My grill is a tight fit and there is no movement at all, so one fixing point is enough.
Here is my fotopic addy if the pics don't come out.

Hope that helps,

Nice job mate. My '98 has been running with a black version, zip-tied on with small back ties, (two) since '99!
T-1000:
Not sure a frame would be so much better. Silver's job looks as if the grille goes BEHIND the bodywork, from a distance, and I reckon that's the look to aim for.

I am pleased with it too, can't take the credit as a mate fixed it for me but after watching him it is quite an easy job as long as you take the time to do a good template to start with.
You will notice on the first pic there is no badge, well it was having the nail varnish trick applied
I have seen Scoobyworld selling the lower grills with an edging strip around them but it costs a little more than a DIY job, not sure if you could really make one yourself as the edge would need to be perfect because the line of the joint would really show up against the bumper, also you would not be able to use the alloy as you would have to weld maybe ?? the edging on, the few i have seen have been in stainless steel.

I have what's called "GrillCraft" on my Rally car.
It's not standard "mesh"
It's Powdercoated steel
It will not rust
It will not bend
Doesnt need to be painted
Perfect fit!
