Can anyone tell me what the rules are on front number plates in the UK ?
I want to ditch the standard import front plate and replace it with an adhesive type on the front splitter. So (a) can I and (b) what are the rules ?

Had an adhesive one on mine for 12 months without a single problem. Guess it would have to conform to regulation sized letter/ numbers. Minute I put small (ish) one on, pulled immediately.

Have a look at the DVLA rules here.

Same as "RLE" Chris i've had a stick on for a while and no pull (touch wood). Cost about £10 for legal size from a local sign writing company. Don't forget it has to be reflective.

For your info I spoke to a local scooby owner who I asked the same sort of question. He also no pull, plus he's father-inlaw's a traffic cop and seems to say it's ok.

As long as the size of the letters and the spacing is correct there shouldn't be a problem IIRC.

Thanks for all that.
If I get pulled over I promise not to sue - just warn everyone !
Still in Lancashire as long as the speed cameras can read it nobody will mind - except me.

Anyone know where to get reflective (camera shy) plates?

Interesting as I was looking at UK speedtrapswebsite and they reckon that some work and others do not! The LCD numberplate version is interesting !
Would not really like to rely on one, tend to prefer a radar detector + some kind of GPS based alerting system

As far as the stick on plates are concerned, the laws are changing
on jan 1 AFAIK.
You could pick one up a caravan accessory shop if your quick!
