Isle of Wight meet : 20-21 October
#1
Who's up for it??? Anyone from the Isle of Wight a ScoobyNetter???
Basically, the idea is to get the ferry over early on the Saturday morning (or late Friday night), stay in a hotel (or camp if you like - yuck ), and get the ferry home on the Sunday evening. In between? Driving, food, drink, see the sights, whatever
I’ve done a quick reckkie, and prices are roughly:
Ferry:
£65.60 standard (driver and car)
£52.30 saver fare – overnight special (car, driver and 3 passengers)
£9.50 passenger fare
or possibly the best option:
Hotel, breakfast(/evening meal?) and ferry travel all in – starting at £55, and upwards, per person (fortunately October is off-peak!)
Big thanks to Ronnie for this fantastic idea – several people are already interested, but we want more/our own ferry

At last an event I don't have to travel far to go to
I'm sure you'd be able to get the ferry cheaper than that. There's Red Funnel from Southampton or Wightlink from Portsmouth and Lymington
All I can say is, I'll definately be there with a couple of other scoobys
If you need to know anything about the island, just let me know.
See ya soon

Hi Steve,
Thanks for the info. I've already looked at Wightlink, but I'll look into Red Funnel tomorrow.
If you could let us know of a good meeting point for the Saturday or Sunday, i.e. a pub with a good sized car park, decent food etc. then we can all meet up there.
Look forward to meeting you all soon(ish).

Hi Kim
It depends how many people are coming as to what place would be best. Lots of places/pubs spring to mind as I supply half of them with decent food.
I think the best bet is when you have got a good idea of genuine numbers, I'll sort out the best place for the amount of people and probably be able to get an area booked up.
There are lots of nice places if you want scenary, but the roads can be a bit different to what most people are used to.
It sounds like a really great idea and a lot of clubs do this type of meeting over here!

Campings good for us! Less money on hotels = more beer!!!
During the war we all used to live in tents out in the fields yonder so it will be like old times
Seem to have a stutter!

Excellent - 11 Scoobs so far (and those just from the mainland), and still more than 3 months to go! It's gonna be a good one.
Cheers guys

Keith,
Are you bringing the photo library? I might finish the rest if we're there long enough
I'm thinking cheap camping = more petrol
Iain.
