Question

If blackjax is so good what happens if they get away the car cuts out they chase you and make you start it. If they threaten you with a knife or something?

As has been said, it lets them get away a bit first. However, if they do come back, then you disable it completely and let them nick the car!!!

However, most will just leg it.

Important point.
Don't chase after 'em, leave plenty of distance and then recover the car when they've gone!

It is meant to be extra peace of mind .Nobody said it was the ultimate , but it's definitely a useful addition. It has certainly saved me once, and that's enough for me.It's also very good protection for women.
Cheers

Just to update the thread. Max at Maximum impact fitted ours yesterday.. It's a very neat little gizmo.. After being away on holiday with the car last week it was in a bit of a mess internally not only is the installation perfect the inside of the car was also vacuumed... Nice one Max...

Not giving operation details but for 180 notes the peace of mind is priceless... my advice... get one.. and if you live anywhere near Leeds give Max a call...

This has probably been asked before, but here goes...

The blackjax can be fitted to any clifford alarm, can't it?

I may need a new alarm shortly, but can't afford the Concept 600, so I was considering the 300 with a view to upgrading it to the spec of the 600 as and when I can afford the bits (blackjax & possibly the extra sensors etc.) Is this possible?

I'm pretty sure The blackjax can be fitted with any alarm.

It's a standalone system .

How much is the clifford 300 ?
If you are thinking of doing Blackjax at another 180 notes - you may aswell pay the 600 squid for the concept 600 which already has blackjax included with it - or am i being dull and missing the point ???

I read somewhere that if you have a Blackjax fitted, this means that your alarm is no longer Thatcham Cat 1 compliant. Therefore, insurance probably invalid etc...

Anyone know if this is true?

If BlackJax is enabled, the Thatcham Cat One accreditation no longer applies. the only reason is that, at present, thatcham hasn't got its head around the possibility of cars stopping half a mile up the road and causing an obstruction....

Nick,

Would be better to get a 600 from day 1, but...

Was thinking that I can't afford £600 now, but I may need a new alarm soon. (Won't go into that now...)

Just had to do other work to the car as well, so I'm a little hard up!

Was thinking that buying a decent Clifford bit by bit was more affordable for me.

Shameless plug, but I'm selling my C600. You'll need to check the fitting costs, though.

Blackjax is excellent (except when using valet parking!)

Talking

I believe that the Concept 500 has the Blackjax included too which is cheaper than the 600......

Regarding the Thatcham/Insurance question, if BlackJax is installed as a seperate unit to an exisitng alarm such as a Sigma in a Scoob then it in no way affects the Cat1 Thatcham rating of the existing alarm. The BlackJax does not yet have a Thatcham rating for the reason harry_boy quotes. I have checked this with Clifford & my insurance company.

Si.
