Default sly DIY security measures

Anyone know any to confuse theives that are used to alarms / immobilisers / trackers???

A mate of mine used to have a fuel cut off switch hidden under the glove compartment so it would cut out if anyone got past the 1st lines of defense.

Are there any other tricks out there that theives wont expect?

Trouble is i expect is that if the alarm is too good they might just tow your car away to somewhere where they have more time to work on it???

I always fit sound bombs inside my cars, not a nice feeling when they warble, any good Intruder alarm supplier will help,
Also a secondary Immobilizer is good, Just a passive 1 where you have a 2nd small toggle on say ur house keys,
A mate got a warning and told to remove shock door handles, when the alarm was set(works like a electric fence 9v but higher current),

There are a million things you can do to deter folks but if they really want it they will take it one way or another.

I remember seeing that on Tomorrow's World when I was a kid.
Seems they made an impact...
BBC News | Africa | Firing on all cylinders (back in 1998)
CNN - Flamethrower now an option on S. African cars - December 11, 1998

Apparently this is the youtube vid although I can't see it at work:
YouTube - South African Car Flamethrower

Quality. If only they'd invent an anti-chav'd corsa device...

If there were, why would you post them on a public forum?

i think id seriously consider fitting something like a clamp - i remember watching something about a bloke who knew all about nicking cars and if the security defenses were too good, they'd just break in, break the stearing lock, tow it to a lock up and work on it there. getting a stihl saw on a clamp might be a step too far for them?

electric shock handles sound good - but they'd probably just brick your windows - to get you back

you could just upgrade the security at your property to make it harder for them.

I've got an engine start button located in the ashtray behind the flipup cover. Unlikely a thief would work out you have to hold it down and the same time as holding the button on the key fob at the same time as twisting it! It would certainly hold them down in any regards!

could also do the $hit surprise trick, although you would have to remember yourself.

Get some carpet rail gripper, cut to size to fit under you door handles, and then smear $hit on them. When the thief comes to open your car, they feel a ***** (literally) and stink of $hit

Green fuse connected to the lambda sensor in later cars. No fuse = no go.

heard of a guy once had an astra gte (flavour of the month at the time). he had 2 alarms, 2 imobillizers, a tracker and to top it off a great big f**k off inch thick chain thru the chassis rail concreted into his driveway. he lokked out his window it was there, 15 mins later it was gone. if a TWOCer wants your car bad enuff he'll have it.

many moons ago toad used to sell a smoke defence system it was the nuts got one in my scoob not sure how legal it is, the original units had a problem and need a 5 pin relay fitted to stop them going off accidently. the only downside is that the fore brigade may brake a window and fill your car full of foam the warning stickers are not big enough. there were some for sale on ebay a few weeks ago.

There are other companies that do them as well but can not remember who they are at the mo.

is it really a good idea to be discussing things like this on an open forum?. if anyones got any suggestions would it not be better to send them by pm?. not trying to be a stick in the mud but there could be 1000's of TWOCers out there all viewing this. aren't we just giving them pointers?.

I'd be careful fitting a fuel pump switch that could be engaged accidently.
