Just a word of warning, about installing a Blackjax, if you intend to do this, make sure that the blackjack system is compatable with your alarm, and if need be go the whole hog and get the full Clifford alarm system, from vast experience with mine and a few of the our club members, upgrading the alarm is a better option, then just adding a Blackjax, imho.
And if you do get it seperate, please please please get some sort of audible sound to tell you to deactivate it or as above on the motorway the system activates itself and u find your self with no power in the fast lane.
Believe me it has happened.

Mine was fitted independently as a stand alone device. You enter the code after starting the engine. If you don't do this then 20 seconds after first pressing the brake pedal (giving the crooks time to drive a safe distance I guess) the system makes the indicators flash - which you can see and hear. If you don't enter the code then after a further 20 seconds the alarm sounds then the third phase is gradual loss of power. The whole system is re-armed if the driver's door is opened while the engine is running - meaning you have to re-enter your code for example when reaching to get your ticket from a barrier when slightly too far away to reach out of the window... 
If fitted properly then there should be no way of suddenly losing power without at least 40 seconds of visible and audible warning. I got it fitted as soon as I got the car - mainly for peace of mind against car-key theft. I would definitely do the same on another car.
The only problem I've ever had with it was when reversing I opened the driver door to see if I was too near to a low wall (resetting the system). Then I left the car. A minute later the alarm was blazing and it would not respond to the code. I'd not realised but the system can only be disarmed by the code when the keys are replaced and turned in the ignition (so now you know...)

Sry Bob, but i dont agree, ever stopped in a motorway service and had the music up loud and forgot to deactivate the blackjax when you rejoined the motorway, have done it twice and the car shuts down, all that you are left with is the alarm sounding, and NO power, Kinda defeats the purpose of having it, if it does not do its job. I have a Clifford G5 Concept650,
and i know how it works seeing as i helped to install it
If it's installed correctly then it takes a feed from the speedo and rev counter senders and won't allow cut out beyond certain parameters, so it should not kill the engine at motorway speeds.

Where do they put the keycode pad? Im really keen to get one fitted and Scoobie Snax post is very enlightening...

My last Impreza had the switch under the dashboard (below the interior fusebox).
I've had MY00 2 years now and I got the car with all this fitted too it, my key pad is fitted in one of the blanks next too the fog light switch...
I've touch wood never had any problems... works for me, I'll be having it fitted to my next one without a doubt... wouldn't be without it now...

I've got the Concept 500 on my Shogun, when i bought it the dealer stated that i should check with my insurance company with regard to having Blackjax enabled, he said some companies will not insure you if it is ?
I didn't enquire just in case they said they wouldn't cover me.
I found mine to be really annoying to be honest, so i've disabled it.

Having Blackjax enabled or remote start fitted will in theory invalidate its Thatcham approval, due to the car being able to start without anyone present and the keys in it, and in the case of Blackjax, the engine being disabled whilst driving.
