Question What alarms and trackers for a Subaru?

It's been a couple of years since I looked into what's good and what's bad, and things have moved on since then.

So what's recommended for a good Cat 1 alarm/immobiliser.
And the same question for a tracking system.

Budget and expensive options, but a combined price of about £1000+

Any help, comments would be great,

Thanks
David

i would personally reccommend getting a clifford fitted, either the g4 series or the new g5, but beware, the g5 series is very confusing, the concept 650 for example is not the new model of the 600, its the 300 which is pretty much basic.

As for the tracker, RAC trackstar seem to be a god bet, think your talking over 500, but you could get both fitted for 1kish, hope this helps.

Hi,

I can't help with alarms, but I have just has a tracker fitted to mine.

RAC Trackstar Plus is around £450 to fit & £120 per year subscription-Uses sat nav to pinpoint the car and is transferable to another vehicle.

Tracker Monitor- around £399 to fit & £109 per year subscription -sends a signal to police if car is stolen and then giudes them to the car- Not transferable.

Both of the above systems will let you know as soon as the car is moved without the keys in the ignition(Hopefully??)

Be careful that the insurance co. will be OK with different systems though, Mine was ok with tracker monitor, but not tracker retrieve as this does not sense the car being nicked. You have to phone them and tell them.

Please note I am not an expert, the details above are what I was told when buying mine.

Hope it helps

Thanks for the replies.

Anyone else with opinions?

Also I though I heard of a system a while back that shuts the car down, if it's been stolen. Not sure if it's alarm or tracker based.

Or is that not possible?

You are correct there is a device that shuts the car down after about half to one mile of an un authorised journey? But Im afraid I cant tell you if its alarm based or tracker based?

I had a toad cat 1 alarm and imob installed which locks you in and has other features got it fitted for £270 and tracker monitor done for £400 plus subscription?

Here at Specialist Security we dont do cheapo cat 1's (please remember that you get what you pay for)

if you want the black jax anti hijacking its incorporated as standard into a clifford concept 500 and 600 ...but whilst it is an easy enough job to programme it in or out, having it programmed in is supposedly a grey area with the cat 1 status.(it does say its not evaluted by thatcham on the concept 500 & 600) might be worth checking with insurance company first.

As regards tracking the RAC trackstar plus is probably the best bet to go for
price is £299 for the unit £150 for fitting £120 for yearly subs, pay the subs by direct debit and get 3 months safe speed free.

all prices are on the web site with 10% discount for scooby net members

We at MotorGuard were just giving the price of what our Cat 1's start from. We do not do cheap alarms, our so called cheap Cat 1 @ £195 are Avital a alarm by Clifford. The same alarm that most companies do for much more.
