Spooky.Must be the ghost of Scoobys past.

Have you got the spare pressy thingy? If it does it with that one as well then its something on the car.If it works ok try a battery change in the pressy thingy.

Is the car battery low?You had trouble with low charge before didn't you?Now its colder the old battery takes a bit of stick.

Hope you find what it is soon m8.

If you don't open a door after unlocking the car within something like 30 seconds, the alarm considers a false call and re-locks.

Question

I've replaced the batteries - no need for no re-programming stuff???

I had this exact same problem with the Toad on my MY02. Eventually I had to unlock the car with the key! (shocking ). After that one episode it seemed to work fine ?!

Seriously though I also think it may be something to do with having a dicky battery (mine has been dodge since new when I sat in the car on a hot day with the aircon on, reading the manual). The car had been sat in storage for three months or so, so of course it went flat on me!

I was told by the local dealer that MY99s on had the alarm system linked into the ECU. Once the battery fails, the keys - both of them - won't operate the central locking. That sounded sensible as my second key wouln't work after the battery in the first one gave up.

So I had to take both keys to the dealer to have them reset....

Puffs got it in one. If you unlock with the fob, but don't open the door within 30 secs it will relock itself. My bugeye does it, and so did my old S40. I'm sure it has nothing to do with the alarm.
