Default Impreza Turbo Classic Alarm/ Immobiliser Issues Tetra

HELP!. We've owned the car for quite a few years now and are aware of the alarm issues surrounding the Emergency Services TETRA radio's operating within a similar frequency as the alarm. We have experienced the bleed off effect from masts killing the immobilser about four times now. The last one was a couple of weeks ago whereby I was stranded 4 miles from home in extreme weather for 6hrs.

The car is a W Reg year 2000 Impreza Turbo and yes, I have changed the code on the pad in the glove box to no avail. I obviously know the area locally now where NOT to park ever again. Its on a section of road approx half a mile long and heavily populated by shops and the like.

Obviously my concern is the same lock up problems happening in ares we are not familiar with.

I am looking for help in preventing this ever happening again and as cheaply as possible without making the car stealable.

I have been looking at the upgrade Ecu for around £140 for the Ecu and another part I believe is the blipper? The supplier is of the belief that the supplied parts will be plug and play.

Any advice / ideas are welcome.

Does it have the M30 Sigma? If so cant you swap it for the S30 that didnt have any issues?
These can be had on Ebay for around £120 brand new.

My old car (my2000) had a Clifford alarm. When this locked up, my solution was to just open the door with the key, jump in and silence the alarm with the pin pad. Embarrassing, but cheaper than changing the alarm !

Are these a straight plug and play or do they have to be re coded? How about a by pass of our current system? The sounder doesn't work anyway.

Tried all combinations. The alarm doesn't activate either when this happens.

Not sure. Where is it all located on the car? Is it behind the glove box? Many thanks for response by the way.

It would appear that the M30 is the upgraded ecu that I need. Off the Bug Eye model. There are plenty of 2nd hand ones on ebay but no fobs just the ecu.

I wish ours was Clifford then. We have a Sigma.
