Hello up there in Scotland
Hello Impreza fans up there in Scotland.
At first I would like to introduce myself, I am Jens, 30 years old and I own a MY 2001 Impreza WRX station wagon. I am living in Germany, so excuse my bad english.
After we have been several times with my family in Scotland, we have now planned a five day trip with the german subaru impreza gt club as a driving tour, to enjoy your B-Roads and single track roads
Here is our rough road plan :Google Maps.
As we are a bit far away to testdrive the whole route (but I have driven the roads over last ten years in the several holidays) I would like to know if you can give us any good directions, especially for small roads.
Do you have in Scotland a subaru club to have a meeting?
Let me know guys and hope to see you soon

Welcome! been a few times to Germany - mainly the Rhine vally with the bikes so if you are used to that nice tarmac some of the roads will be a shock!
Given your dates you might just avoid the midges (biting insects) but if you are camping then bring plenty of insect repellent just in case!

On your way North from Newcastle there is Holy Island,if the tide is right. The seat of Christianity with St. Cuthbert hundrds of years ago. Then Berwick, an ancient town, fought over by the Scots and English for many centuries. There is a Shell V-Power Station 500m off your route as you travel North. The fishing town of Eyemouth is good for Fish and Chips, Haggis and Chips or Pie Suppers, all take away. Traditional Scottish junk food but very good. There are usually seals near the harbour mouth. Eyemouth also has a Shell V-Power Station.
Sites in Edinburgh include a walk along the Royal Mile which connects The Castle to Holyrood Palace which is always interesting. The Scott Monument on Princess Street for great views of the City and Camera Obscura at the Castle end of the Royal Mile. The Grass Market is interesting and sometimes very lively and a walk along Rose Street can be fun.
Historic South Queensferry and the two Forth Bridges as you make your way North from Edinburgh. I see you have some distlleries on the route which is good but each tour will take a couple of hours.
Fort George between Nairn and Inverness is interesting and you sometimes see whales and other marine life offshore. Boat trips from Inverness, Ullapool or particularly Oban are always interesting if you want to see wild life, seals, otters and so on and on the North West of Scotland, red deer are more numerous than cattle and depending on the season go around in big heards.
After Nairn and Inverness there is probably no more V-Power until you are South of Loch Lomond heading for Glasgow.
Have an enjoyable stay and if there is anything you need to know or of specific interest drop me an e-mail per profile.

Looks a very good route your planning. watch out on some of the far NW roads they can be very fast witch is good but not if you come a cross a tractor or campervan.
