Not one of us, I hope ...
On Ceefax tonight:
Police clock driver at 150mph
A motorist in Fife has been clocked driving at what is believed to be one of the fastest speeds to be recorded by police in Scotland. The driver was one of 200 caught on camera during a weekend crackdown by Fife Police.
The guilty motorist was behind the wheel of a high performance sports saloon car when he was photographed by a mobile speed camera at about 150mph.
The driver was captured on film while travelling on the A92 dual carriageway.
He is said to have been talking on a mobile phone at the time the offence was committed.
Police revealed that 10% of the 200 caught were being driven at speeds of more than 100mph.
A spokesman for Fife Constabulary confirmed that a report would be sent to the procurator fiscal in connection with the incident.
Neil Greig, head of AA policy in Scotland, described the incident as "beyond irresponsible".
He added: "I find this absolutely shocking that someone would drive with such disregard for their own safety and the safety of others.
"Not only is it near impossible to control a car at such a ridiculous speed it is beggars belief that they were on a mobile phone at the time."
Isobel Brydie, spokeswoman for the Scottish Campaign against Irresponsible Drivers (SCID), branded the driver as "completely mad".
She said: "Driving a car at that speed carries the same danger as discharging a shotgun in a crowded street.
"It's absolute madness to drive at that speed and there can be no possible excuse for it."
Chief Inspector Bob Farmer, from Fife's road policing department, said: "This beggars belief given that at such a high speed, any slight distraction could be fatal both for the driver and any innocent motorists who are safely travelling within the speed limits.
"I'm astounded, in total disbelief of the utter disregard that some drivers demonstrate towards their own and other people's lives.
Last year car dealer Jason McAllister was jailed for five months after he drove his BMW at more than 156mph on the A90 between Aberdeen and Dundee.

WTF, driving a car down a quiet dual carrageway, or firing a shotgun on Princes street. No wonder the country is going mad when idiots like this get a say and come out with that toss
This will only fuel the anti-motorist fire

Talking of stealth........I passed the Talivan on the South Deeside Rd recently. I was doing bang on 30pmh in a chilled out mood and sauntered passed them. I then did a u-turn about 600 metres away from them & rigged up my Road Angel laser alert (which I previously had lost faith in). It worked a treat when travelling towards them. When I got closer I blew them a kiss . They were both lying horizontally on the van floor with one of them probably having 40 winks.....Got to the 60 zone 30 metres down the road and let them here the straight through in Vtec .
Why dont they just out more traffic cars on the road and catch the real warmers ! I have now passed their Talivans about 8 times in the last 3 months ! They must catch SO many folk

Works day out in Edinburgh tomorrow, so I'm gonna theorize at around 6pm what a shotgun release on Princes street would look like. Oh' and I'll be drinking from noon!!
Although, would a shotgun cartridge reach Princes street from the Western Bar??

Its all nonsense, people do speeds like that everyday of the week somewhere in the country don't they? Lets be realistic. This guy was just unlucky to get caught. I've just driven up the M6 from Chester today and 70 is dangerously slow, as it is on most dual carriageways where that 'limit' applies. A limit that was set decades ago when cars were very different beasts to they are now. Cars are faster, safer and more capable of travelling at speeds above 70mph and the limit on motorways should be raised. Why else do the police have tolerance levels above the limit if they believe it is correct. Its just laziness. The Tories seemingly have raising the limit on motorways as a vote winner next year, so you never know. Finally, if you hit something/anything solid at 70mph or 150mph the result will be the same, i.e. you'll be deed.
What an irresponsible thing for that woman to have said, to compare driving on a dual carriageway to blasting folk with a gun - the fool.
