Got a massive grin from ear to ear. Got my new Scooby home today, and as all us Scooby drivers know, theres now't to beat that feeling of jumping in and driving off for the first time after handing over the hard earned cash.
This is number three for me. Two classics and now I managed to get my hands on what is surely the last ever bug eye made. Never thought I would go down that line because of the looks and performance. But it's amazing how a few mod's can change your mind.
Dicksons have changed it from a bland WRX into a wee cracker(in my opinion). Front mount intercooler, larger turbo, remaped ecu(done by DASTEK who do the electronic work for them),full decat, cosmetic changes i.e lights tints, etc etc , the list goes on.
Not a lot more to be done just now until the funds come back up to
a sensible level. The main aim is to get her as quick as the RA I just parted with. Tough but possible.
I will try and get some pics taken tomorrow and posted up so I can get some opinions on her.
So for the second time in under twelve months its a big thanks to Andy and Niki at Dicksons for getting me another superb Scooby.

P.s Don't worry Andy, the launch control wont be getting used till the warranty is up!! (not)

What do you think? Should I have kept the RA?

Not too convinced on the rear lights (they are different though ) but apart from that I reckon you've definately made the right decision mate!!

New car looks very nice, any idea on what sort of power its pushing?!

Cheers,
Grant

Grant. She is 297 at the flywheel just now. It was sitting ar 310 but leaned out on top end, so better to be safe than sorry.
There is a lightened flywheel and Equal length manifolds to be fitted asap.
The biggest problem is that it's still WRX bottom end so I am looking at building a stronger bottom end. I don't think I want to push a lot more out of this block. If I can get hold of a closed deck block and then build from there it should be reliable 350+bhp. Thats the plan so far. It's got the Dastek ecu so it makes for easy mapping when I re-build, plus it is also running the larger turbo, which means that part of the cost is taken care of.
2004 looks like an expensive year!

what turbo did they fit and do you have a r/r graph from dastek?

I have seen dastek's premises and the rolling road set-up looks very impressive.

looks good, seems quite low too.

Yes I got the graph for the first run but not got the second run when it made 297. should get it tomorrow when they are coming out to bring the idle speed up. This can be done through the laptop. Going into Dicksons in the morning to get the job done.
Need to ask them what turbo is fitted, can't remember.

Does this mean Dicksons have your RA for sale?

What is the weight difference between classic RA and FAT bugeye?

Dougster.
Dicksons do have my RA for sale. Fastest Scooby I have ever driven or been in.
As for the weight. I think the bugeye is about two tonnes heavier!!Seriously, the RA was about 1235kg. The 03 is probably about the 1400kg, I don't know. I will weigh her tomorrow at work.

i like the RA :d

not keen on the rear lights or spoiler.
but the specs look good, and like t-uk says it looks low
nice wheels too

if it were me - high rear spoiler and 'normal' or smoked rear lights and it be right there

Got a Fugly rex meself and I think yours looks very nice neebs ( not sure of the rear lights though), I would have kept the RA though LOL.....brute force and sheer ignorance those thangs. The fugly will have better build quality, such as it is, better standard suspension, more understeer
Interested in the Dastek ECU though, will be looking fo more power soon and wondering what route to go down, you dont have any ideas as to what kinda power gains I could get staying standard turbo and injectors and what cost for the ECU do ya?
Great to see someone swayed to the fygly side though neebs, see guys it does hurt no matter how heavy the buggers are LOL

Can see where you are coming from saltire. Good to stand out from the crowd though.
Spooks, the best idea would be to speak to Dicksons or Dastk yourself. Tell them what you are looking for and get a rough idea of costs. In would have hoped for an increase from 220 bhp to around 250+bhp with increased torque from what you have to play with. The guys are good and will only take it as far as is safe.

HI SOOB, Glad to hear Dicksons finally got off their ar$es and did some work for a change.

I looked at a few cars there before I bought my Scoob and was apalled at the service I received, or DIDN'T RECEIVE!

Needless to say I bought mine from elsewhere!

Anyway, motor looks good m8, word to the wise and all that, don't let them away with any shoddy treatment when it comes to servicing/repairs etc! Good Luck and enjoy.

Got a season pass this year so I will be getting my moneys worth!!
You didn't just sell an Escort Cossie for the Focus did you?

Thanks Grant. Will pop in some time and let you have a wee look.Think you might have seen her allready though. You supplied the chip for the engine check light.

Subarstar.Don't worry, I will keep the guys in line. You must have had a bad apple. Hope it all worked out in the end.

sti-04 hope you are going to take the new toy out when you get her. The track is the place for her.
Need to meet at Knockhill the next time we are both there. If you see me at the car then don't be shy. I'm the over weight one with the blonde wife. Both of us sponsered by Subaru clothing! (it good quality you know)
