I noticed a strange camera this morning on Holburn Street.

Between Dennis Irvine Superbikes and the junction with GWR (on the left as you're headed north).

I wondered if it was to spy on naughty bus lane cheats.

Any ideas ?

There are quite a few of these cameras on King Street now, all ni the bus lanes. These are small grey boxes on the top of a pole (one per pole ), which look like they haev a couple of lenses.

Normally there's two lots of detectors in the road just after them. A bus is big enough to cover both sets, hence not setting off the camera, but a car isn't long enough (well perhaps a Maybach might be and would presumably set off the camera.

I'm guessing this means that HGVs could also use the bus lane without fear of setting off the cameras.

I actually live in Cullen, but I'm at my birds half the time and she lives at the Holburn street end of Broomhill Rd. That is my reg, it's on a silver STI7, I don't really like leaving my car on the street there, so I leave it at my grandas in Westhill. I'm quite often in the Holburn Bar! Have to get a pint with u sumtime

Just saw on the news what these cameras are about....

They are CCTV cameras to catch folk misusing bus lanes etc in Aberdeen... So watch out!!

yes their active as of testerday and so is this fines for bad parking and so on supposidly!
