RB5 got stolen in Bothwell
Theves walked in the unlocked backdoor and took a dimond ring and the car keys. The car was found abandond in Glasgow, it had a tracker fitted.
I have just spent the day cleaning out my garage, this is not to far from where I live.
anyone on here
Cheers

that's a little too close to home for my liking.
Did catch a couple of muppets in the back garden eyeing up my car after a whole week of ownership. But a good wave of a baseball bat soon sent them on their way. Unfortunately, lost the little beggars in the woods and the police weren't much help either.
Ain't many RB5's around this area so wonder whose car it was?

This is something I'm aware of as being worryingly common down south (i.e. Englandshire) but I'd never heard of it in Scotland until recently.
Someone I know in Aberdeen had their house broken into in the middle of the night while; she, her husband and the kids were asleep. Only thing taken was the keys to their Audi TT (and the car of course). This in a nice street of granite houses in the west end !
There were some notable circumstances though. These include the fact that it appeared the intruder(s) knew exactly where to go for the keys.
Not good ... but as the boy on Crime Watch says ... don't have nightmares ...

Same happened to my neighbour. Broke into his house in the middle of the night while they were asleep and stole valuables downstairs and then the keys of his BMW for a comfortable getaway. Not far from Bothwell either. Skye always reminds me to check I have locked the doors downstairs before Bedtime. Also moved all my keys which used to sit in the hallway. Now I remember when you could leave your doors open, blah, blah blah ......... those days have long passed. Well down here anyway.

Iain,
Maybe the smart move would be to leave them in the same place or maybe an even more obvious one (path of least resistance).
Also moved all my keys which used to sit in the hallway.

Actually when I said they broke into his house they just tried his door, which he had left unlocked (path of least resistence) after putting his wheely bin out late at night. Seemingly quite common for theives just to try doors and if locked move to next house and so on. As you can imagine I have plenty gadgets to deter them and the place lights up like xmas tree if you take a step too close. Then there is the sign on the back fence which says "Tresspasers will be Shot" which seems to keep them at bay.
Did take a gun to a housebreaker once. In court I was asked to describe the break-in. I said that I had heard a noise and come down stairs and found a man in my livingroom. The Sherrif asked me what happened and I said he put his hands up. The Sherrif look perplexed and asked why. I said because I was pointing a gun at him. The was quite a rumble of laughter through the course and even the Sherrif smiled. He then said "I take it as the defendent is before us that you did not pull the trigger" He the asked what the man said. I think I sealed his fate when I told the sherrif that he said "Don't shoot, it's my living!!"
I wish I could have shot the wee Bas*ard

I live not to far away also.
But hey-ho - if you live with that fear, then its going to spoil your day. Just take sensible precautions. Like they say, if its gonna happen, its gonna happen - not matter what you try do.
However, saying that....I will break anyones neck that tries it.

I had a few guns in the house (Livingston) at the time. Used to be a hobby I had. Had a shotgun licence at the time as well. So had a choice of weapons from a pump action 12 bore shotgun to a M16 rifle. However they were all under proper storage (Before the law demanded it) and the gun I used was in fact an empty blank firing replica, though the burglar didn't know that. This took place before Hungerford and Dunblane and therefore the Police/Courts were not at all bothered that I had used a blank firing gun. I did however get rid of all my lethal guns after the the appalling Dunblane incident.
The case was heard by a Sherrif called McPahil at Linlithgow. Heard his nickname was "No Bail, Go to Jail, McPhail" The Burglar and his accomplice did get 3 months for the break in. Very dangerous pair it turned out and luckily managed to get an even more dangerous bloke to warn them off any reprisals.
The worst thing about getting your house broken into is that there is a good chance they will come back for the stuff they couldn't manage first time. Therefore when I moved here I did loads to Deter burglars so they would just take one look and move on to an easier victim. Better Prevention than Cure.

Think the sign needs modded with :
"Survivors will be shot again!"
