Oh ! I think Phil is tempted to jump on track !
Don't give him too many horror stories as he is very easily influenced
Just do it Phil, get a lap time as the car is now and then you will have something to compare when you go for TEK3 ( you know you want to! )

Phil it is not remotely scary if you don't drive like a prat
I have fun, am improving gradually, but still leave myself pretty decent margins for error on the track - just can't help it - in my nature. Sometimes I enroach into those margins and start to run out of track and was glad I did have that bit spare. After all I am there to have fun, which I do even if I only ever understeer. However, since Eibachs and bumpsteer the back has been a little bit mobile now and again and I still find it scary since it is so quick. Again leaving yourself the last 1/10 helps. I can still get satisfaction out of the track that way. Some really like to drive on/over the limit. By the very nature of if that is a bit out of control and would go against my instincts. It didn't help that the man that made me go out on track went off on my first track day My ideal would be to drive it quickly and smoothly. Each to his own, some would call that boring, but I can play with the cars performance relatively safely.

Haven't personally done this, but attended KH when a certain Ferrari F50 smashed his front end completely up the pit straight, clocked the right hand side tyre wall jutting out for bridge support and fibre glass went everywhere. The cost to repair was around £30k estimated in the Daily Record on the Monday. So it is possible to smash your car on the straight. Just hope you don't do it.

just glad it did not put you off.
as someone who has had a fairly large off at k/hill,all I can say is it's the best place for it to happen.if I had gone off like that on the road I would be dead.also the damage I got was fairly small considering the speed, just glad it did not roll as that would make a real mess .
it has not put me off track days,if anything it made me appreciate how safe they really are.in-fact,I even did the very next top marque night after my off just to see if I could grab my ********* back out the tyre wall .I will be spectating at the next few events though to put a bit of money back in the bank.
obviously any car at speed is dangerous but doing it at a track makes it much safer.I often get surpised how fast some people drive on the road but they will not track their car .it is only as risky as you make it.I really like to push it,lap after lap,so had accepted that eventually I would fall off.others might only drive round at 50% of the cars ability but they will have a smile as big as mine at the end of the day, just without the fcuked bits .

A few years ago in an Escort RS1800 I had my throttle stick open approaching duffus dip, heading for the tyre wall, I thought it would be a good idea to try and steer away from it, front wheel dug in and I barrel rolled 4 times to the bottom of the hill...........missed the tyre wall though !
Fortunately had a roll cage, still managed to drive it home minus all the glass and a with lower roof line, just kept my helmet on on the road. Got some strange looks and very few people wanting a bit sport
