Scoobynet Plus suggestions for improvement....
Dear Webmaster & All,
In response to this posting, I'd like to put forward this post to air my thoughts, and any other members' suggestions, on how to improve SN+.
My impression that the reason behind the negative responses, is the perception of value for money. You only need to look in the "For Sale" section to comprehend how tight Scoobyent users are!!! "Something for nothing" springs to mind
However, in all seriousness, I think that to appeal to the masses, maybe a little bit more input could be required (not necessarily from Simon, Shaun and the Mods). You guys are busy enough anyway!
I was thinking along the lines of the following -
Music no problem Here
Any comments - further suggestions?
Dan

I was thinking along the lines of the following -
- Not everybody appreciates the value of the Scoobyshop discount, but, it does have limited appeal.
- SIDC get around the "value for money" issue by providing track days, discounts and a magazine. SN (& +) also offer the above, but no magazine. How about a magazine that concentrates on the stuff that True Grip doesn't? Inteviews with motorsport icons, manufacturers etc Future of Subaru etc?
- ScoobyNet + competitions - nothing major, just signed memorabilia etc
- ScoobyNet + Internet Radio - playing music, motorsport news, interviews with motorsport etc......
- ScoobyNet + DVD. We all know about the ScoobyNet CD , but how about a DVD, covering track days, car-cam stuff, in-depth instruction on how to do minor maintainence etc. Reviews/looks at new-age cars. Other marques.....
- How about a "ScoobyNet's greatest drives UK" - car-cams of Subarus (with accompanying flat-four soundtrack ) driving the UK's greatest stretches of road....
Music no problem Here
Any comments - further suggestions?

It's nice to see a few peeps have added some suggestions, but I was thinking moreso about what you would want for your £25 per year. Surely the ability to post "for sale" and group buy stuff on its own would justify this premium.
not that I'm saying its not justifyable now
What do you want for your £25?

I don't know. Peeps complain about the SN+ payment, yet when given an opportunity (albeit not an exclusive one!) to make suggestions as to what they would be prepared to pay for, harldy anybody says anything.
Mods, feel free to delete this post as it is obviously a waste of time - I'll email my suggestions to Somin & Shaun.

I've only just seen this thread. I think you have some great ideas. I'm not very clued up on IT but a few things i'd like from SN+ membership would be.
1. my own e-mail address ie buzzer@scoobynet.co.uk
2. A DVD on how to drive a scoob by a professional driver (road use not rally)
3. A compilation DVD showing all the Scooby advertisers with products, contacts and addresses. eg (Its so bloody annoying when trying to see a TSL front lip spoiler in all the different angles) Scoobyworld have attached vid files to view their spoilers
4. I'd also like to see a quarterly newsletter giving us updates and maybe simple "DIY" tips for maintainence and mods
Dont give up mate, i think you've got some good ideas

Did someone suggest PM only for SN+ members? Good idea I think. We need to give regular members a basic service, basic avatars, no sigs, no PM, no for sale postings. For SN+ upload own avatar, PM, for sale postings, money off in SNet shop. That would probably clinch it for me!

Hi Folks,
Thanks for taking the time to post.
I will be monitoring this thread very closely over the next few days and will make comment on what would be possible when we have a variety of feedback (saves things being fragmented).
Obviously we cannot promise anything, but we will take seriously any suggestions you make on how to make the SNPLUS scheme better.
Keep the suggestions coming!!!
Regards,
Shaun.

At the moment, the members only forums are not busy at all. Perhpas, if you are trying to get more subscriptions, you should take away all posting rights in the general chit chat forums. A very large board I belong to does that and it is surprising how many pay for the privi of posting in the general sections.
Personally, I couldn't care who pays or who doesn't. They all post rubbish most of the time anyway

How about the following :-
- Buddy lists/Online list : At the bottom of the page is a list of currently logged in members, perhaps if members of your buddy list are logged in they could be highlighted, ie. drawn in blue/yellow/red etc. This way, if a Buddy is logged in you can quickly see.

I will pop another thought here... the Muppets forum makes this bbs appear to full of idots (which it is LOL - just kidding). How about making Muppets invisible to guests?
I post on another fora - not scooby related - and they allow guests to peruse the information forums only but anything related to the 'community' has to be a priviledged member and would have to pay a subscription.
Also, I would get rid of the fight club... it doesn't look good to visitors especially if they read the muppets forms as well. Gives a bad impression I guess.
Moderators should be seen to close more threads than they do already. Although it is fun to be rude to somebody, it doesn't give a proffessional edge to Scoobynet. Not many respected fora would allow even a smidgen of the rubbish that gets posted in some the forums here

What about a higher status, not necessarily for SNet+ members but say:
Over 1000 posts: Senior User
etc.
Don't know what to call the levels of posting but other forums have them.
Brian.

Type R Scotland uses a car status.
You start off in a pram and slowly generate higher. Probably vB won't support this as even the 'join date' field is still off!!
