The dragon said to me today "please don’t sale the Impreza." I have taken her to Jaguar’s and BMW to pick a car that’s something I never do, usually pick it myself well I have to drive it don’t I. She says she don’t like any of them and would rather have the Impreza. I had to tell her straight I have said I’m going to sale it and sale it I will, most of my extra’s have gone now anyway.
She has even sown up the rear seat and you would never know it had come apart. But she cannot do anything about the hesitation. She said “Buy a P1 if you want, I will take a little less housekeeping money” I said “ You stupid cow I don’t give you any housekeeping money.”
She says when I’m at work she will log on to Scoobynet and tell you all I have bought a Mini and the lads will not let me go on any runs with them anymore. I told her most of you lot would rather have the mini than the Beemer anyway, I could also keep up with most of them in the mini as well.
The Car is almost ready to be sold I even have a price from my dealer I just have to find a replacement. Its going to be a hard job. It will be a sad day when it goes especialy after having Impreza's for so many years.

Cool

Bob,

You like driving, you want something a bit more comfortable and solid than a scooby/evo... you want to move to a "more-mature" man's car... You want a Datsun^H^H^H^H^H^HNissan Skyline!

At 50 I would probably be driving a BMW (or a nice Audi) sad but true. Not to say 50 is old by any means, I even test drove an Audi and I'm only 28

dam typos

Try a B4 RSK thingy Bob, I had a go and it was pretty nice, but engine wasn't as good as I'd hoped, a flat spot between the 2 turbo's and doesn't feel anywhere near the 276bhp they're supposed to have. But very 'civilised' and alot of car for £21k new. Sorry to hear you've got so narked off with the scoob mate, hope we'll still see the 'no fear' hat from time to time at PS days
Other suggestion...accord type r - suits the oldie in you and the psycho driver , Hondas pretty well put together too! (I'd have the Honda over the Legacy)

Hi Chuck,

Honda typer's maybe a bit revvy, I did get a bit fed up with our old one at times. Forgot about the legacy, great idea.

I'd go for the Legacy. I've had a '96 Legacy RS (forerunner to the B4) for the past 18 months and it's been great. The power feel is different to an Impreza and, because it's a much more refined (and better built) car, it's a lot smoother. It may be you drove a dull one (they do prefer SUL and don't develop anything like 276bhp on NUL - more like 240-250), but it's definitely worth trying another if you have a chance.

I'm 50 now this is not the time for a glorified go-cart. Frightened to park the impreza so where could I park that? I need an every day type of car, Jag Beemer or Merc.

I recommend a Vectra

A few weeks of that should get your mind set right

BTW - I'm 53 and I'm not ready for dotage, pipe, slippers, etc yet

JD

PS - I ALWAYS listen to my wife - I bought the scoob in preference to a Beemer and Merc, and one reason was she felt much more comfortable with it.

If I ever do buy another Impreza it would have to be an import not worth getting a UK car now I have to do the repairs myself.

Hi Bob,

I think the new Merc coupe (Sorry can't remember the model) 2.3 supercharged only costs about 24K, may be worth a look.

Or buy a Euro import MY01 from Holland for about 16K

Thumbs up

Volvo S60 .... no, seriously! The T5 version is >>>extremely<<< fast, but civilised, very good to sit in and (IMHO) looks good.

what about an s4 bob? twin turbo v6, lovely interior, understated classy looks, go like stink and 4wd. you can get a good un for mid twenties(£)
just make sure you get a post 98 with the recaros, as i found the 98 cars seats unbearable.

You gotta decide whether you are ready to hang up your stringbacks (remember them? - lol)or not.

If not then I am sure you could get a P1 for <£30K - you don't have to drive like a nutta ALL the time, tempting though it is. (course if you never drive like a nutta u might as well have ford escort - for its comfort level)

But if you really want something classy and comfortable then it has to be a Merc or Lexus.

Audi / BMW - seems like compromise.

Me I'm going to wait for the 260 ps wrx

I have another day off tomorrow might pop up to Audi's and have a look.
Been back to BMW today had a look around outside, but could not drag myself in to see the new ones.
The dragon's still at it P1 P1 P1 thats all I hear. I will not spend £32,000 on a car £30,000 yes, but not £32,000.

Bob, surely you have to get a JCB and call it Scoop.

No, seriously get the P1, you know you'll like it. If you can't get one for 30,000 then surely 1500 is a small price to pay for keeping the Dragon off your back for a while.

I see Doc has one for sale down south it is tempting.
I can almost scrape up that amount in cash. Perhaps I should wait for them to get modified and cheaper
His will most probaly have marks on the roof where he puts the blue light.
Went to Audi's today at Bristol. Nothing there I fancy.
