Default Breaking a classic?

Just wondering about breaking my classic wagon
what could I expect to get for parts?

She's a pretty standard turbo 2000.

If its standard then not very much at all. You'd be better off selling as a whole car imo. Its a right ball ache breaking a car and if its pretty much standard you won't earn much more. Plus you'll be left with a **** load of parts at the end that nobody wants.

It's on 138,000 miles with 2 months tax and 6 months mot.

Body wise it's a typical classic( rusty rear arches).

I have advertised it locally for what I consider peanuts
(650) but only had one offer of 500.

Should I just accept the 500 and lump it?

Yes £500 seems to be ok as arches will cost double that and mileage over the
Magic 100k

17 year old standard, rotton, high mileage UK wagon..... £500 ain't a bad shout I suppose. I would have thought it would of made a bit more though.

Might be worth sticking a fresh mot on it and giving it a go on ebay. I'd say it would probably make your asking price on there with a fresh ticket.

And sell what ??
What is on that car thats worth any money ?

If he's lucky, he'll get £800 for it in bits, and that is if he's very lucky. Factor in all the time and effort breaking it, the dribs and drabs of money, the hassle of sending parts and the even bigger hassle of having a heap of parts left at the end that you can't even give away.

Many imprezas are worth more money in parts, sadly a rotton, old, high mileage, standard uk wagon aint one of them.

OP, as I said, stick a fresh ticket on it, give it a valet, bung an air fresher on the mirror and stick it on ebay with a no reserve auction

Well I sold the classic but not without a problem.

The local to me scooby site where I sold it my thread
was hijacked by a member who took it upon himself
to mark on the thread that the car was sold to his mate
who I had only exchanged texts with last night while I
was working a night shift.

A guy turned up un-announced early afternoon while I
was asleep so I let him test drive it, he was happy so
paid me and the deal was done and off he went. I texted
the other guy to say sorry but the car was sold.

I then received a lovely threatening pm on the aforementioned
website which I thought was out of order but hey-ho I guess
you can't please everyone.

Oh the fun of selling a cheap scoob.

Plus people can't seem to give away 4dr saloon shells, let alone wagon's.
