Default camber advice please

Right, I have an 05 widetrack. It is on coilovers with xxr 527's which are 18x8.75 et30.

I have cut the inner lip out, raised the car a bit and had me camber set to negative 1.5 on both sides....and it still bloody catches , only on larger bumps and holes in the road, but I want it sorted

Am I going to be trashing my tyres if I adjust the camber any further?
Im almost thinking of heating the arch a bit and giving it a little tug....any help would be good..god knows how you lot with 9.5 rotas get by.

Cheers
Dan

Well the et30 is not helping either, you will need the arches rolled

I dont need the camber top mounts as I can go further on the bols, I have 2 sets fitted. Ideally what I need to know is, am I going to be ok with say 2 degrees of negative camber to clear or am I going to be chewing up tyres in no time?

I don't think 2 degrees will chew up tyres unless you drive like a loon everywhere, however will be better round corners after geom.
Try it and see if the rubbing stops

6 volt as i told you in the thread before you bought the wheels you will need to fit camber bolts to the rear and that will cure it as thats what i had to do.
it cured the rubbing issue

Read my 1st post mate. I have 2 sets of camber bolts fitted in the rear with 1.5 degrees negative camber and I have also cut away the inner arch, and still have rubbing on larger bumps or with people in the back.

no idea then i fitted camber bolts and cut a bit of arch away and it was fine, only thing i can think is the tyres are slightly fatter on the sidewalls.
what make are they?

Continentals, the wheels are an et 30 which as busta says, wont be helping matters, im thinking a heat gun and rubber mallet is in order. Just to give the arch a little nudge,

Could you not just get some worn tyres of a size that gives a slight stretch if this works get new rear tyres. Just an idea.

My opinion is that dan had them fitted to a narrow track car and fitted camber bolts which may have only just cured the problem, but yours is a wide track so therefore your hubs are further out as to why your getting problems.
Try the more camber and go from there....where is it rubbing? Front or rear?

Is it not rubbing on a single spot rather than the whole inner arch? Is it not worth an investigation to see if there's any areas standing proud? Just brainstorming

Its sanded pretty smooth, but it is definately worth a look, it is mostly the left rear, but I suppose the kerb side of our roads is the worst so may not be a case of anything sitting proud.

Ill have a go on tuesday to see if I can get it any flatter, after that it will be a case of going for 2 degrees camber.

Hi there

You will need to raise ride height at rear at least,if you want more camber,my recommendation is to use camber bolts at front and rear and I would strongly advise get Roll Centre correction kit

We are run like in front and rear camber bolts, raised ride height at rear(later on we are raised rear ride height at front too and no more catching etc.)

The car has no body roll to speak of, it is set up very well, with camber both front and rear... its just a case of round peg, square hole..

Hi there

Raise ride height at rear,if you have problems with rubbing or catching at rear, only this can cure this

More camber will or can helps, but easiest to raise little bit ride height at rear

Your gunna need to pull the arches out to solve it properly.your defeating the whole point of trying to save your tyres by adding more and more camber.thats just gunna do your tyres no good anyway.

It's toe that wears the tyres NOT camber, if you go for Zero toe then you won't get any excessive wear.

The only problem with running more camber is the steering and handling feels weird at low speeds, kind of skittish until you start to load it up in the corners.

At least thats how mine feels especially when i'm just taking it very gently warming the car up.
