Default Exhaust is too loud........

Hi guys, I have recently purchased a 2004 Wrx ppp uprated turbo, injectors full decat and remap...... 300bhp.
My problem is this.... The Exhaust is just too loud.... 90db on start up!!
I have tried a bung for longish journeys that drops it 10 Db's but iI want it quieter.... Just a nice burble not this full on war cry.....
What I am thinking is changing the back box for a sti prodrive one.. Will this work or will it be too restrictive and ruin the map?
I am also getting rid of the dump valve too....... 2 weeks is enough of that...
Thanks in advance.
Darren

Revolutions exhausts (or eggzausts if your under 20) are rumoured to be quite quiet, have a look on there website and see if there are any decibel figures.

Good stuff by getting rid of the chav horn as well, I'm not 100% sure but you might need a wee map tweek if you change the exhaust and chav horn as the will both be incorporated into your current map.

Milltek exhausts are quiet in comparison to many aftermarket exhausts and if you are just changing the back box you don't need a map tweak.

Darren, I too am looking at alternative exhaust systems. I have a full 3" Milltek system with a sports cat and no resonator and im getting 90db in the car at 70mph when cruising and more when on-boost.

I'm waiting on a bung arriving from eBay to see if that makes it a bit more manageable on drives where I know I'm not going to be pushing the car but I'd prefer something that is more burble and less howl. That said, I certainly turn heads and then giggle as people look confused when they see a Forester.

Yes you need a resonated section mate, or a sports cat.

you dont mention what exhaust you have (or did I miss that)
or how many miles its done..

My HnS 2.5 rear was too loud for me so,
I found a workshop that can weld stainless steel and supply a bit of steel to cover the hole that I cut into the top of the rear so I could take out what (little) was left of the old wadding and replace it with
http://www.thermalvelocity.co.uk/Sil...BAC/p-117-425/

When cutting it open dont cut to the very front and rear ends, leave an inch so some meat to weld the new plate onto.

I think I got 500mm x 1000mm and it just all went in..
now much more of a burble than the tin can farting noise it was before.

Vik.
