Exclamation Horrible Evening Help Needed

Hi Everyone,

This evening at home my car and both my parents cars have been attacked. All the windows on my mums car have been smashed along with my dads, but hes car has also had bodywork damage done. They also went on to my car next and have put the windscreen through and the passenger front and back windows. My Dad caught them running into a black Audi A6.

My Question is I have seven years no claims if i go through my insurance will I loose my no claims. They are not protected and I cant really afford to loose them. If I would could anybody help point me In the direction of a mobile second hand window fitter. Or where I could get decent priced second hand windows as I didn't expect this to happen I haven't got money aside for this.

I live in Birmingham any advice or help would be greatly appreciated the car is a classic 2000 Reg. As you can imagine I'm a little pee'd off but keep calm.

Thanks

Ash

Sounds like you / your family have some enemies.

Check your policy to see if you have windscreen protection and check the terms.

I think you will have to have the door windows done by an independent garage though - may be worth trying to find a couple of complete doors cheap in the same colour?

You may well find that NCB is not what it used to be.
Mine is not protected and when I made a claim a while back, they did not take it away.
Also you might find that the next time you renew, you can shop around and it wont cost you so much - have a chat with your insurance company - they do actually want to retain your custom.
Your loss has not been caused by you driving like a **** - which with associated third party exposure to them, is their main concern when it comes to assessing you as a risk - not a few broken windows and bent panels!

If you have glass cover and there is no panel damage then you should be ok to claim for glass cover and not affect your ncb.

also its worth mentioning that you just pay the excess once, so if you have all new glass done at the same time then your will pay once, if you do one window at a time you will pay an excess for each.

good luck getting the all the glass out! what a bunch of c*nts!

It might be worth calling your insurers and asking them if your NCB would be affected if you were to claim. They may say no. If they say no you should be ok. If they say yes, ask them how much will it be affected. Will they knoock off 2 years? 3? 4? Usually if they do knock any off its 2 years. If you have maximum NCB which usually tops out at 7 years you are lookiing at probably ending up with 5 years remining. Ask them by how much your premium will increae if you were to claim and lose part of your NCB and work out if it is worth losing those two years.

Naturally if the cost of new glass plus fitting comes in at a lower cost then go down that route. If losing 2 years NCB is lower then that is the better route to go down.

The best advice is to ask ask ask. then act.

Good luck. Nobody deserves having their car attacked. If someone has a problem they should sort it out face to face.

Do you have cctv?

Sorry to hear of your troubles, horrible thing to happen.

Hi Guys,

Thank you for the help and advice, I have only just finished cleaning up all the glass both my parents cars. They have been taken for repair and I wont loose my no claims and will only have to pay a £75 excess. Which is good news they will be hear tomorrow to fit the glass. The bear at the front of house sounds a good idea.
I cant go into much but this looks as though it stems from the same ex employee that attacked the night shift guys where I work. They seem to have a vendetta against the two directors one of which is my dad.
We have a security company coming to look at fitting CCTV as the last thing any of us want is this to go further.

Thanks again

Ash

Your NCB will be reduced from maximum (5+) to 3 years.

That is good to hear Ash.

Perhaps you can look at putting your car some distance from you house so it doesnt get targetted in future.

Don't forget you will have lower no claims for the next two years, don't just calculate the extra cost based on one year.

And a fault claim stays on your record for 5 years, so even after 2 years and you're back to max NCB you'll still be paying more
