Question WINDSCREEN WIPERS NOT GOING DOWN CORRECTLY

Hi all couldnt find any information out on this I am having a problem with my wipers they dont go all the way back to there lowest position correctly if I am doing over about 40 mph they dont go all the way down if I am going alower then 40 mph they do go down if it is a dry day they never go all the way down unless I use windscreen wash to wet the screen it is a little problem that is really grating on me coild it be they are not aligned correctly? Could it be the motor has warn? Or is it just a common problem that no one knows how to fix I have scoured scoobynet and Google with no success please could someone help with this really annoying thing also my car is a 1998 uk 2000 turbo 113k

mine do this i was thinking you could adjust the bolt on the back of the motor a bit or there seems to be an adjustment screw on the front but i havent tried it yet

When they go all the way UP, do they contact the side pillar? If so, they have been removed and put back on the splines in the wrong place.

Failing that, ensure the two nuts, one on each arm, are tight.

The linkage might also be worn...scrappers are your best bet.

Only hit the side pillars when they are on 2nd or 3rd speed not when the wipers are moving slowly tho so possibly have been removed at some point I will have a look when the weather gets better lol p1ssing down outside atm good old british weather lol

Got the same problem with the wife.

When it stops raining, mark the screen with masking tape where the wipers stop now. Undo the two nuts and remove the wiper arms, reposition them a few cm below the masking tape, re-tighten. Job should be a good'un

I have exact same problem with mine,

Its the bush worn on the linkage where it connects to the wiper motor

Get a wiper linkage from a breakers. Paid £20 for mine and sorted the issue.

Do linkages off newer cars fit the older ones?

If not, how do you know you're getting a better one than what's on?
