Any good, CHEAP, on board cameras ???
Hi guys.
As above, I'm looking to buy a camera for track day action :-)
I know that GO PRO is the best bet but bit too expensive ATM for me. There is plenty of cheap ones on eBay but are they any good ?
What do you people use ?
Thank You

i was looking for something similar a while back and came up with this set up.
i wanted a camera that was permanently installed and recorded without the need to start up and recorded onto memory card.
this is my install
i bought this
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/HD-720P-Sm...item5655c95f2a
i then installed the camera next to the rear view mirror and its hidden behind the sunstrip part of the screen so cant be seen from the outside.
i then ran the wires back to the stereo under the roof lining down the pillar and back to the stereo so its all hidded, it powers up with the stereo and records on a loop onto sd card. it can be turned off on the unit if needed but i just leave it running all the time.
if you need to save something from it simply take out the memory card and put it in pc.
the camera does work if you dont have a double din stereo with inputs for a camera, but god knows how you adjust the date and time etc.

I got the sony one the other day and am still figuring out all the settings etc, it hated the roll cage mount as it couldnt pick up light changes quick enough, so mounted it on the dash and it is better but the angle isnt quite right, so will look into some other form of mounting it, but its getting better!

I can supply you with Blackvue cameras, I use the DR500GW and its perfect. The cameras are very small, the sit behind your rear view mirror and they adapt to light changes quickly.

I bought one of the 808 cams, looks like a car alarm fob on
the bay for a fiver. It records upto 45 mins on a 2gb micro
sd card, I used sticky back Velcro to stick it to the top of the
clock cowl in my classic wagon and it does the job grand.

What about your phone?
Got my Galaxy S3 with a 64gb SD Card recording my track day.
The raw footage is excellent 1080p quality, I scaled it down for YouTube for a quicker upload.

Thanks a lot guys for all your replies.
In the end a friend of mine told me that he has GO PRO so I can have it for as long as I want :-)
I've got an IPhone 4S which records good quality video the only problem is fitment. It is a real pain in the **** to attach the mobile on to roll cage :-(
I was thinking about those cheap EBay recorders but my concern is picture quality as most of them are only 720p and record 15fps.
I think I'll bite the budget and buy something decent. Good track action deserves good video footage :-)
