Question VI Monitor

Anyone bought / used one of these?

Basically a monitor, performance tester, fault finder that runs from the OBD port.

Hi pal,

Just opened mine and plugged it in.........maybe I am being stupid but on the monitor set up it isn't giving me any options other then G sensor figures? IE dosnt seem to be talking to the car?

I have a 2004 STI type UK, presume it should work fine? Is there something I need to do to set it up.....instructions seem to indicate its just plug and play!

Its should be plug and play yes. Although mine played up in the Scooby if the car was started with it plugged in,have you tried starting the car then plugging in? I had mine in a jag for 2 years plugged in permanently but in my scoob it threw up dashboard faults so I put it back in its box.

In the jag it was brilliant, really liked it.Jag was a 2004.My scoob is a bit newer and it didnt seem to work well with the electronics, everything worked until you restarted the car then it threw up faults with the 4x4 and eml,it happened twice ,that was enough to put me off.I put it down to my scoob being newer and Vi not offering updates to their monitor. Although their bumph said they would

Just had another quick look....its saying something about this ferrite magnet, but only in US and Canada??? Does this need fixing? Its a clamp magnet for the connector cable.

Just turned it on again and still isn't reading any basic stuff like RPM

I put mine in a few years ago now, have you been on the website, just turn it on scroll through the menu to monitor and as you drive it will show reves and speed and it will record it and you can download it on your pc

Do they still sell these new then? I thought the company had gone bust as they haven't brought anything new to the market in years.

Well just having another go with this thing.......weird as it is clearly powering from the OBD port as when you plug it in it turns on automatically. But dosnt offer up any monitor info, even the basic settings which initially set to RPM, Speed and throttle position. Only option is G-monitor which is obviously a separate stand along thing within the unit.

Looked through the manual and its not offering any assistance at all, suggesting its plug and play as advertised.

Anyone any ideas?

No I couldn't pal. Got my money back on it in the end.

It could have been a faulty unit, or it simply wasn't compatible, yet others seem to have got it working. The company seems to have gone bang as the website not been updated for ages and I couldn't perform an update on the unit to see if that was the problem.

I got mine from fleabay.......£69.99 think it was plus postage. Seller was Thompsons in stockport I think. Least they refunded and also paid my return postage after pointed out I am pretty local so could pay them a visit. Didn't expect to get the postage to be honest so in he end would recommend the outfit on the service front.
