So I've had my Type for a while now. A ticking noise has developed whilst driving which you can hear with windows down especially in enclosed areas (sound bounces off walls). First I thought tappets will be loud because oil hasnt been changed in a while. So bought RCM filter and Titan (Silkolene) oil 10/50. After changing oil the noise didnt change much.

Done some digging and found ticking noises can come from blowing exhausts. Ive got an equal length manifold on just now (couldnt tell you the brand) but the up pipe is part of the manifold. Took car into work today and checked for leaks. Can't find any

Someone mentioned because the metals are thinner on the tubular manifold the sound emulates from that where thicker OE headers resonate the noise. I dont know how true this is. If its possible will heat wrapping deaden down the noise or is it a case of changing the manifold, because the noise really gets on my ****.
