Brakes feel vacant ?
Hello guys, I've just bought an 06 plate 2.5 Hawk eye wrx with 50000 miles. It's a one owner with full service history from Subaru Gatwick and in excellent condition. I've never owned a Subaru before and I've found the brakes to have very little feel and I have to push the pedal harder than I would have expected too considering its a sports car. The discs are standard fit and look in good nick and the there is meat on the pads ? Is this normal ? or I suspect the pads could be glazed ?

Would depend how much flex you have in that area to start with, but i have read about people claiming a big improvment. Also fit braded lines as there quite cheap and do improve braking. Quality brake pads and dot 5.1 fluid. I think thats about as far as you can go without spending big money. You can fit larger discs with Brembo calipers or Ksport ,Alcons or even AP if you have money to splash. This would mean replacing your wheels for the correct offset i believe.

Get someone to press hard on the brakes whilst you are watching the brake servo in the engine bay. You will see how much movement there is. I fitted a brake stopper and a set of goodridge hoses as my initial brake upgrade. Then I went pads and uprated discs. I have now got a K sport brakes upgrade front and rear. These upgrade sare to my Bugeye STi.

If you want much better braking ability you need to bite the bullet and stick some Ksports on. They are great value for money and pretty much the entry level 'big brake kit'.
