Default Car slow after disconnecting battery

I have a widetrack blob which I had mapped by AndyF (Ecutek), the car made 345bhp according to his road dyno, have both low and high boost maps. I disconnected the battery to clean the fungus type stuff that seems to grow on the terminals, and the car hasnt been the same since. Im definately in the high boost map, as I can feel more power toggling the demister switch, but even in this map it feels the way it was before the map. The only difference is the car was mapped on Tesco 99, and I filled up on Vpower, but I doubt there would be difference as they are both 99 ron, have since refilled with Tesco 99 but still seems as though the map has been lost. Can anybody help?

The map will not be lost. I expected your ecu has re-set by dis-connecting the battery. Give it a few days to learn and it should be ok. The switch from Tesco99 to v-power shouldn't make any difference either.

The DENSO ECU learns pretty quick..............you need to explore all the map to get the AIM and fuelling right

Thanks for the advice guys, after I reconnected the battery I left it in low boost mode just to see if there was a difference in fuel economy, decided if there is its not worth keeping it in low boost mode, put it back in high boost, but have only put my foot down 3 or four times, could this be why its feeling slow? As if the ecu has decided "hes not going very fast so I wont bother"?

What do you mean by "low and high boost mode"?

AndyF mapped it so I can choose whether or not to have full boost, when you disconnect the battery it defaults to low boost, (cant rememeber how much it is now) and then toggling the demister switch allows full boost, which was 1.4 bar. I meant the low and high boost map, sorry if I didnt explain myself properly

Ah got ya, you have duel maps with one set to a lower boost level. I was starting to wonder whether you had a manual boost controller. Just take your car out for a good drive. Drive normally and give it some stick. The ecu will then make all its adjustments and store them again. As said, these ecu's do learn quite quickly. I think if you dis-connect the battery for longer than about 15 mins they reset so in effect forget all the adjustments it learned for your style of driving.

Just been out for a 100 mile drive, most of it shifting up and down keeping the car on full boost, launched a few times aswell, she's definately down on power :-( not misfiring, no funny noises, no lumpy idle, feels like 50 bhp is missing.

The demister toggle only works with the throttle fully depressed.........but I guess you knew that.

Something to check, check your exhaust, guessing you drive hard so check its not blowing between the gaskets, mine felt like it hard lost power and my exhaust gasket had gone

Check the hoses going to the boost solenoid and the hose going to the waste gate actuator, that hose split and came off mine once.

Would this be the down pipe to turbo gasket?

Just checked those and they seem fine, I couldnt see any holes or splits, also just done a compression test, all cylinders are similar, around 160ish.

Would the next step be to take the intercooler off? The hose that connects the maf to the turbo, is this a usual suspect for splitting too? Just a bit worried about taking it off and not being able to put it back on.

I would advise against that unless you actually have to. Sometimes removing parts can cause you problems. Maybe best to contact your mapper and see what he thinks, or even book another appointment for a health check. I'm not saying this is the case with you but with some the problem was more in the owners head than with the car. A health check will indicate whether it is down on power since your last mapping session.

just wondering, I did an oil change recently, disconnected the cranckshaft sensor etc, which made the cel come on, I cleared this using Torque app, could this have anything to do with it? probably not just thinking out loud.

Doesn't normally affect how the car runs even when you don't clear the fault code.

Ive had the car checked for boost/exhaust leaks, showed nothing, also there are no fault codes in the ecu, but it has been suggested it could be the nps.

Had a look on import car parts and ebay, couldnt find one for 6 speed box with dccd, does my car actually have one (widetrack blob)?

Would the box need to come out to change it (was hoping to change it on the drive)?

NPS faults on the STi can stop the AVCS working..........best checked with deltadash or similar, rather than randomly replacing parts.

Thanks for the reply Shaun, Ive read about delta dash, but no idea how to use it, is it something I can download to my own laptop, plug it in and monitor various sensor's?

About the avcs, the symptoms do fit, as the turbo comes on boost fine, car is still quite fast but lacking the shoved in your seat feeling, very smooth, but a bit boring
