10 sec car, how much power in a newage?
Hello all,
Went to the drag strip a couple of weekends ago to watch the races. I saw a few scoobys down there the quickest ones running about 11.5 seconds (it was more of a muscle day so wernt to many about)
I was wondering what sort of power is needed to make a newage with minimal weight reduction a sub 11 car?
Im not planning to build such a car, iv never even dragged any of my scoobys as to worried about launching it that hard lol, maybe one day if i get launch control id do it once
Just curious as im sure there must be a few on hear.

My skyline R33 GTR runs 10 second times with 826bhp, but you need the car setting up with box/diffs etc..... in the end, the engine and power are only part of what is needed to do it.

Banny,
You might need 600bhp, but it should be achievable with a lot less me thinks.
Seriously though... IIRC Andy F did a 11.0 something with around 480 in his Spec c didn't he.

Think it was an 11.0 but Andy has been probably driving longer than I've been born so I would expect nothing less

lol the new breed of impreza owning tools, 2 tonnes those brake discs were heavy!!!
all done on crap fuel too, that should sort out his 2.5 engine....
quarter of a tank in four runs, so that's 4x 1/4 mile, that's a mile in a quarter of a tank so he should get 4 miles to a tank.
that's a little bit of a ball ache if you live 5 miles from the petrol station.

I'd say about £20k if you do a lot of the donkey work and more like £35k if you can do a bit.
The engine is going to cost at least £10k and probably more like £15k.
To own and run a car like that your going to have to do a lot of swatting up so you know what's going on under the hood and need to understand every aspect of subaru tuning.
700bhp does not come cheap.
Then your going to need lots of practice and deep pockets for consumables.
I'd save the money aim for mid 400's bhp and mid 11's, which leaves £20k in the bank for coke and hookers.

As banny says you need a genuine 600 + in a full weight newage to run a 10 sec 1/4,bigarf has run lots of 10 sec 1/4's in his newage, his is partially stripped tho and had a solid 600 +,think I seen him run a 10.6 at York.
Iv ran a few mid 11's with just under 500 bhp in my old bug.
Im hoping I can achieve a late 10 sec run in my new blob/hawk but we will see.
