Default Advice Needed Re Perished 3 Year-Old Pirellis

Can anyone help me out?

3 years ago (2010), I bought a new WRX with PPP. The wheels that were supposed to come with it, as part of the deal, weren't available, so the dealer sorted me out a set of nice Pro-Drive ones instead. A couple of months ago, I noticed there were cracks all around the outside edge of the tyres. When my husband took the wheels off recently, he found there were cracks all over surface, even though the tread is fine. We took the car to the tyre specialist near us, and he told us that the tyres are 6 years old, so they were already 3 years old when they were put on the car.

Needless to say, I'm not a happy bunny, as I've only done 14,500 miles on them, and have now got to fork out for a whole new set. We took the car to the dealer for them to check them out, and they took photos and got in touch with Subaru Customer Relations (Ha!), but said they were totally disinterested, and asked me to get in touch with them myself to back them up, which I did, and have been given snotty short shrift.

Anyone give me any advice on where i would stand?

Each tyre does have a date stamp on them!
But saying that, i'd have been happy getting anything over 10k miles out of a set of tyres!!

I've never kept a car for 3 years never mind a set of tyres lol.

If they've perished with age/weather and other environmental conditions I can't see any other option than buying a new set, can't see any supplier being interested in a set of tyres that have been on a car for 3 years?

Hope you get sorted somehow though fella.

After 3 years, not very well in my opinion.

You won't have much recourse after three years unfortunately.

I'm a girly! All I do is drive up the by-pass and back every day. I had my Classic nine years, and only had one new set on them, at 7 years. My husband's set are 8 years old, and are nowhere near the **** state mine are in.

If your tyres on your husbands car are 8yrs old, they are past their best too. I think 10k off any tyre is reasonable and if they lasted 3 years, then that's great.

I don't think you have a leg to stand on

How have you stored them? If the car stands still for long periods then this is going to happen.

Just to be clear these tyres came from Subaru 3 years old? I would write to the tyre company and then write to Subaru about their miss selling. Maybe asking them how they store tyres before they were fitted to your car.

I get 18 -20000 miles out of a set of 4 tyres on any subaru i have owned.

I would say if you have concerns about the tyres then replace them.

I changed all the tyres on my VW New Beetle last year cause they were 10 years old, my brother in law laughed at me and said i was stupid to change them as they were still ok.

I countered that i drive up the autostrada , autobahn, and peage often for hours at near the maximum speed of the car. (I drive this car from UK to Greece and back periodically) and needed to be sure of the tyres.

Only drama i had was when a Belgium van in front hit a large piece of wood (fence post size) and threw it into the air, i expected it to come through the windscreen and yelled at my wife to get down. Well i was lucky that day, the wood flew up and the beetle passed under it and it landed behind the car. I still feel shock thinking about it.

and when i snap my fingers "back in the room"
