Master cylinder
Advice please. My brakes are utter sh#t! Yes it only has 2 pot sliders on but their bad on a biblical scale. Doesn't matter how hard you push the pedal not a great deal happens. Not good with 280-300 ponies. Got a feeling master cylinder has gone as when engine isn't running the pedal doesn't get any firmer when you press it a few times. Car has braided hoses dimpled and grooved discs not sure on pads as only just got car. Help please

You said the answer to your own question the standard two pot sliders are ****e four pot upgrade job done, that's the first mod I done on my wife's wrx as I nearly stuffed the car when a twit pulled out in front of me there just not good enough for an impreza, maybe try a fluid change for the short term and have a good look at the condition of your disc and pads.but I would seriously be looking for a better caliper upfront four pots brembo etc...SJ.

Four pot calipers are really cheap mate, I paid £50 for my set off here and they went straight on with new pads and discs, less than £100 all in. Perhaps spend another £50 and get braided brake lines and flush out the braking system with decent brake fluid and you'll really notice the difference.
You can tell if the master cylinder is on the way out though, engine running and hold the brake pedal down, if it sinks down to the floor slowly thats most likely the MC leaking.

Upgrade them. You can buy a new set of 4 pots disk and pads cheap. One part on a car you don't want to save cash. Could be the difference between a claim or not. If your feeling flush a set of the brembo newages will fit with an adapter kit. Not mega money these days.

It's got braided lines on. The system just doesn't pressure up on pedal. Need to sort as cheap as possible at min as funds are tight. Was going master cylinder new fluid have discs skimmed at work and new pads for min then some new 4 pots. Seen some wrx pro on eBay for 250 with discs and pads.

Ok boys!!! More hours at work and a set of 4 pots it is. Still think I'm going to swap master cylinder out as it doesn't feel right and doesn't pressure up whether engine is running or not. Like I say braided lines decent discs not sure on pads.

If you press the pedal In my vxr astra with engine off a few times the pedal gets stiffer and nearer top of pedal stroke. It does same with engine running but my import impreza doesn't. You can press pedal 30 times and it goes to floor every time.
