Default Blown head gasket?

Hi guys.
Just had my blobeye 03 wrx modded up. Intake pipe, sc32 billet turbo, sti injectors, cold air induction kit, perrin intake pipe, up pipe, down pipe, de cat exhaust and remap to just short 300bhp. within 3 days blew oil filter. got it sorted. within 8 days blew my head gasket. done all the checks. have sweet smelling bright white smoke from exhaust, swollen radiator pipes, coolant burning at stupid rate of knots. so far no oil in coolant and no coolant in oil. got a friend who can put new head kit (with uprated gaskets) and cambelt kit on the car. costing me £1300. is there anything else i need/would help greatly with sorting the car out? used mainly on a weekend, warmed up, cooled down, not ragged but twice a week she is enthusiastically driven and i have a bit of fun. need my car sorting but need to spend to avoid any potential future problems.

thanks in advance

How much is the updated gasket kit?

How much is the full Cambelt kit? ( does it need it or just a belt? Pretty sure the procedure Is to check for wear on rollers etc and replace if needed )

£1300 sounds like a lot of money to me especially if its mates rates?

Whatever the issue is, get it diagnosed or it'll repeat itself...

Take it to a Scooby specialist....

Did you change the intercooler? Doesn't seem a lot of power either for those mods.

bloody hell £1300 for head gasket at mate's rates.

Can I be your mate if I do it for £1200.

P.s As above you should be making a healthy 320bhp with that turbo and mods.

lol. i didnt think i could blow a head gasket either. been looking at uprated cosworth parts. price is for full head kit, skimmed head and full cambelt kit including pulleys. price is everything parts and labour. i had my car in a reputable subaru specialist garage for the mods. got it back, blew a hole about the size of a 5p in the oil filter first. then 5 days later got back home with nice bright white smoke pouring from the exhaust. intercooler has not been changed. that was part of my next mods process with uprated cosworth radiator and samco hose set.

Blue or black? There was a re-call on some of the Subaru blue filters.

Blowing a hole in an oil filter is a new one to me, are you sure it wasn't punctured from the outside.

As you would be able to tell which way it was done by looking at it.

That suggests to me a problem with your oil pump / over pressurised / has anyone touched the pump ? If it is over pressure , your HG fail will be a link in the chain

Damn, what sought of pressure would you need to do that? I have heard of top fuel dragsters blowing open the oil filter canisters but not a road car. There must of been a fault in the canister itself i reckon or got a crease in it by someone wrenching it up tight when it was put on.

It could well be just a faulty or very old filter
( pressure release valve would cause a major problem / like you say if the pump hasn't been tampered with most probs is a old clogged filter

I've heard of older engines pressurising, ordinarily the coolant, and usually they'd blow the core plugs, and (anyone who knows better feel free to correct me...) it's usually a symptom of HG to water jacket on sealed coolant systems.

For an oil filter to blow a hole in it, something must've been faulty. The internal valve poorly fitted during manufacturing perhaps?

If the crankcase were pressurising, I would expect the weakest link in the chain to be an oil seal, or a hose, not a metal canister?!?

It'd be interesting to find out what *exactly* happened!

wish i kept the filter for photos. binned the old cannister. just had the modifications done. took a gentle 5 hour motorway drive back up north. didnt really want to push the car straight away. got up north, pottled around town visited family over 2 days. 3rd day warmed the car up as normal around town must have been about 10 mins of driving. got to dual carriageway, foot down lovely feeling back in my seat, burble that feel good factor you get when the car is ready to be driven hard. 20mins later maybe, cooled down around town again, parked up, turbo timer set extra 2mins after gentle drive around town. out next day, massive puddle of oil under car. filed it up, took it to the garage, thats when got underneath so on.
