I reckon its a V2 sti, probably with IC water spray and someone upgraged to 4 pots. Chassis code reads the same as a 555.

Its a sti 2. Forget the engine number. The 555 and sti2 used the same engine. They are the same car except one is blue with a roof flap.

yes i just thought it was a v2 sti until i looked it up and the engine code is different on the v2 sti the chassis codes are the same the v2 sti and the v2 sti 555 but when you match the engine code it comes up as v2 wrx sti 555 limited edition so if it says its that car lol is it that car or is it just a mix up i dont know

The downfall in your thinking there is that the 555 was only available in 53c blue and had a roof vent

Like I said, forget the engine number. The engine used in the 555 IS the same as the one in the sti V2.

All the sti cars were jap only until the UK got them in 2001, The sti and 555 were made at the same time so i`d guess some of the engines were used for both cars, It wouldnt be unusual for subaru, If you are getting the info off the plate on top of the passenger strut and that is what it came with from the factory and it is 100% a V2 sti(Not 555), Not sure if there were any engine differences anyway so makes little difference.

As its already been modded slightly it wouldn't surprise me if the previous owner put them on as the 2 pots were crap, Its a cheap and easy upgrade.

its weird because their not the normal subaru 4 pots with subaru written on them they are a little bit bigger and all black with no writing on so do all sti's have the ic sprays i thought it was just the RA that come with ic spays and alloy running gear and i have heard of some of the earlier sti's had forged pistons and some used a closed deck engines which are apparently the best engines does anybody know why apparently the closed deck engine is the best or is this just a myth

V2 STi had IC spray & alloy wishbones as standard as Matty says.
4 pots were not indroduced until the V3 & will not fit under those wheels - hence the redesign of the wheels for the V3s.

Your car looks pretty standard barring the front splitter & induction kit.

Look after it. Very few standard ones left now
