All the sti cars were jap only until the UK got them in 2001, The sti and 555 were made at the same time so i`d guess some of the engines were used for both cars, It wouldnt be unusual for subaru, If you are getting the info off the plate on top of the passenger strut and that is what it came with from the factory and it is 100% a V2 sti(Not 555), Not sure if there were any engine differences anyway so makes little difference.

its weird because their not the normal subaru 4 pots with subaru written on them they are a little bit bigger and all black with no writing on so do all sti's have the ic sprays i thought it was just the RA that come with ic spays and alloy running gear and i have heard of some of the earlier sti's had forged pistons and some used a closed deck engines which are apparently the best engines does anybody know why apparently the closed deck engine is the best or is this just a myth

4 pots were not indroduced until the V3 & will not fit under those wheels - hence the redesign of the wheels for the V3s.
