Hi, My Impreza 1994 WRX Import as above wont start it goes to but nothing, went for a drive in it all was fine then accelerated and then some **** pulled out in front so slammed on the brakes, went off felt very sluggish then stopped at a roundabout then went to go went 5 feet then cut out.

Can you hear the fuel pump priming?
If not check the connectors to the pump.

Unfortunately with problems like these internet diagnosis is quite hard.

94, is that on coil and leads? If so;
are you getting a spark? Coil pack ok?

Does the starter motor turn it over? If not;
Can you turn the engine over by hand?

When you say sluggish, do you mean no power off boost? What was it like on boost ( if you could get it there? )

Could be any number of things to be fair. Check all connections, particularly plugs/leads. All electrical connections, including lambdas, crank sensor, Knock sensor etc.

I'm no au fait with the 94, but if the engine is turning over but not firing, then it's ignition related, but that could even be cambelt related (e.g jumped teeth)

Hth!

Bugger. Did the tensioner fail?

As I see it, you've got only one option:

Replace cambelt, tensioners et al, time it up and see if it runs!

Obviously finding out WHY it jumped will be difficult if the tensioners haven't given way.
