Wheel and Tyre size choices????
I've recently bought some new wheels and tyres for my classic.
The reason i've chose to go to 18's is because i'm going for the AP/Porsche brake set up.
They are 18x7.5. The tyres are 215/35/18 Acceleras.
The tyres really aren't the best. I had CDF front and rear ARB's, anti lift kit and drop links along with solid front and rear drop links. I then had a full geo done. It's a massive improvement and the steering is a lot more precise. However the tyres are screaching and slipping.
I've done a little reasearch using etyres and found that i can use 225's instead of 215's. Further research and if i change the tyre size to 225/40/18 there is double the choice of tyres and they're nearly half the price.
I have had BC's fitted so i know i can adjust the ride height.
My main question is, can i get away with it?
Does anyone have 225/40/18's on there classics?
Here's how it sits at the mo

Might have to get the arches rolled, and the speedo will be out.
I had 18's on my STI Type r and hated them, went back to 16's, although I may have to go to 17's because I have the Godspeed AP 4 pot set up that will eventually be going from my blob to my type r which FYI clear standard newage wrx rims and provide all the stopping power you could need on a classic sub 500bhp with the right discs, pad, fluid and lines.

The car is going to having a CDB 2.1 stoker built by AJ Engine tuner capable of 600bhp.
I wanted the best brakes with that power.
I did my research and saw the negative opinions about 18's but if prodrive created the p1 with them on for the uk roads could they really be that bad?
Any p1 owners out there with 18's? What tyre size do you have?

Standard size would be 225/35/18 if you want to keep the same rolling radius.
225/40 would be an increase of 3mm radius so not a major difference but the speedo would be out a tad.
Most P1's are on 17s

Thanks maggs, i'll obbviously coming to you again for the tyres, hopefully you'll be doing another arch rolling day again soon
ditchmyster - i've spent years on here and bought my first classic in 2001. I've also owned numerous other fast cars and motorbikes.
After doing years of research and speaking to lots of companies i took the 5 hour drive down to engine tuner. I went through nearly all options and decided what i wanted. I know bhp is often pub talk and it's more important what it drives like. It's going to be a monster but i'd like to think i'm prepared for it. Lots of things already in place inc headers, gems simtek, handling, stopping. Gearbox and clutch will be next.
Alan has filled me full of confidence where as most people i have spoken to have left me with either lots of doubts in my head or questions which were never answered.
It's all long term unfortunately but i'm sure i'll keep you posted
